I've read a lot online about how to reduce monthly fees. Sites suggest changing subscriptions and offering free shipping. They also stress high customer ratings. What are some not so well known ways to reduce Ebay fees?

You have been around long enough, both in seller FB and time on the site, that there is nothing we can tell you that you don't already know.

Have your kids or grandkids do all the work so you can go out and play.

Sell less or stop selling all together should do the trick 🤔

When you mention fees, I think ebay fees which are pretty much set. If you mean overall costs to sell on ebay, that opens up all kinds of things. I personally don't see how offering free shipping helps reduce costs, but lowering a store level is definitely good if you are paying for more than you need.
My biggest savings occurs when I source my items. What I pay for my widgets pretty much determines my profit. I also try to find low cost or free packing materials and boxes.

sell lower priced or fewer items will do it

Actually, raising your prices won't lower your fees but will increase your profit and will lower the percentage of your sales that goes to fees.

Top Rated still gets 10% off FVF.
It is not a fee but using the correct shipping is paramount. Make sure to price USPS against UPS and FedEx. I use mainly USPS and UPS.
Sellers can get into a rut with USPS and throw money in the toilet every day/week/month.
Make sure to be tracking every legitimate expense for taxes.
