Question about the Passkey

Everytime I sign in Ebay wants me to do a "passkey".  I opt out because I already have a password.  I don't use my mobile cell device, I use my computer.  But I notice there is a "pin number"option.  I want to know your experience with pass key.  What makes it different than a password?

Re: Question about the Passkey

I wish I knew. There's only the "skip now" and we need a "I don't need/want it, leave me the heck alone" key.

Re: Question about the Passkey

Yes passkeys are completely broken right now with how they are implemented. These lock people out of accounts more than they secure them. Windows 10 users don't even have a way to manage passkeys, so they would be stuck in limbo, that and passkeys are an enormous privacy violation because law enforcement needs no warrant to use your passkey to unlock your accounts/devices.

Re: Question about the Passkey

It is not really that big of a deal - It just takes one milli-second to hit skip for now - It is actually kinda' entertaining - Dont' sweat the small stuff - There is too much big stuff to worry about.  IMHO Of-Course!  (J.B. From N.J.)

Re: Question about the Passkey

Passkey uses your devices pin or biometric to gain access to the account that is using the passkey. Unfortunately there is no standard for these, managing these is always changing, almost all of my clients including me lost access to our account after trying to use these. Law enforcement also doesn't need a warrant to use your passkey for login.
Those are the differences, that ebay for some reason decided not to tell users about. Passkeys are less secure, and less reliable than even passwords are.

Re: Question about the Passkey

I got 'tricked' into setting it up.  Not really, but it felt that way LOL.  Guess what?  I LOVE it!  That was at least a month ago, maybe more & I was annoyed at the time, but I like typing in so much less than my PW.   Esp now with this problem where we're having to log into the boards constantly.
