I have been purchasing on eBay for 20 years. For the first time, I am considering selling something -- an old Mac Pro 1186 computer. All personal files will be wiped from the hard drive. For the purpose of setting it up for the buyer, would it be OK to leave the OS and basic license-free software (such as iPhoto, iMovie, and iDVD) on the hard disk?

If the user can login to the device, that would be desirable. I would not be concerned with the other software.

Thanks for the reply. I will set the computer up so that the user can login.

If there is an admin password, they should have that as well

I highly recommend visiting Apple dot com and search 'preparing your mac for selling or recycling'. There are detailed procedures to wipe different models. There should be no admin ps set. And most importantly there is 0 trace of your data.
