Hi all!
If a buyer returns an item and inside the parcel is something else what protection to the seller eBay provides? How a seller can be protected by a scammer buyer?

There is nothing that provides sellers protection from theft like this.
Dont sell anything you cant give away and wont miss.

Ive had this happen once. They took some pieces then returned the rest. What they return has to be what they purchased! Contact ebay, they may have you send them photos and they will compare them with your listing, They do protect sellers from buyers like this but you have to take the time to contact them and explain the situation. I did not have to refund them and they even tried to dispute the charge with the credit card company and lost!

What if the buyer claims that you actually never shipped all the pieces? I mean there is no way to prove that you shipped the correct items or to prove that you received something else.

This happened to me about a month ago. I sold a smart watch…it was a cheap on $20…however it was new and did what it was supposed to. The lady return “it” except in the box was an eye cream (was a fake one) not the watch. I contacted the buyer..no response.
Then I contacted the buyer. eBay refunded her…go figure. Talk about encouraging cheating behavior.

^^^ That's another time that eBay would side with the buyer.

The only protection, here in the states, on a compromised returned product is if a seller is top rated and accepts 30 day returns or is above average rated seller that has free returns.
Those sellers can deduct up to 50% of the refund. Also know, in that case, ebay does not refund the final value fees back to the seller.
