Promoted Listings

My question is regarding "Promoted Listings". Is it me, or does it seem like Ebay has an algorithm that shadow bans listings and makes them invisible UNLESS the seller pays to "PROMOTE LISTINGS" at extorted percentages, like charging a 12.5% fee on a buy it now listing that is only up for sale for $10.00 ?

Doesn’t seem like it to me, no. My company doesn’t promote any listings and we sell plenty.

I often feel shadow banned and pay dearly for promoted listings

I research every product that I list, First I check eBay’s prices, sometimes the items I’m looking for aren’t available on eBay, then I google them…bammm there’s 2 available!

It doesn’t happen a lot, but it ABSOLUTELY DOES happen. It’s definitely something eBay’s gonna need to step up in if it’s going to continue to compete with other online marketplaces.

Pay to play, that’s promoted listing. The >% the higher you go. Those one of a kind or unique items don’t need to, but on saturated markets like clothing, it’s tough. There are millions of listing competing for the same audience.

Many of us don't promote and we're doing just fine.
