Promoted Fee

I’ve been selling on here for 20+ years and thought I’d give the Promote Listing option a try, only to discover that Promoted Listings fees include shipping costs! Ridiculous in my opinion. My fault though for not reading the details.

Never again.

I only use it to bring attention to one of my listings that i have priced at or above market price. (cushion for PL) I would say that Pittsburgh chair listed would be a piece that i would consider using PL. Raise the price to $200 (with PL). Since you have local pickup only on it, there is not extra percentage taken from the price. (PL Fees)

For lower priced items, i do find it a waste of money. IMHO

Re: Promoted Fee

Promotion is worth what you think it is worth.

It helps you make sales in some cases and not in others. When it does, money goes into your hands more quickly.

I do not feel it helps me at all. So I will not pay for it. But if it helps you, you should think about how much it helps, and whether you should alter what you are willing to pay for it.

Re: Promoted Fee

@peteholden

I'm not sure why that took you by surprise!  You've been a seller a long time and have some great experience.  While you may feel it is "ridiculous", it is something you would have known had you of done your homework.

When you promote your listings using a general strategy, you only pay when your item sells. The amount you pay is determined by an ad rate, or the percentage of an item's total sale amount (including item price shipping, taxes, and any other applicable fees) that is charged when the promoted item sells within 30 days of a click on your ad.
