As much as I like to purchase at eBay, must of the time I have the problem of buying stuff that doesn't fit me.
And that is annoying.
I know that the seller puts a measurement chart so u can measure yourself, but I have to admit I'm not good measuring myself. All I know is that I'm size small and that's what I usually purchase, but on eBay even when I get size M or even Larger when I get my item most of the time doesn't fit me I think they send a Medium kids size. Or the seller don't care because they know they won't get the Item return.
I know I can return it, but it would be nice if the stuff I purchase will fit me right. I don't have that problem when I purchase clothing from other sites like amazon.
I thing eBay should implement a better system.

eCommerce returns for clothing average around 30% I believe.
Everywhere.
And it's because of fit, primarily.
To combat it, many retailers try to use the best interactive sizing charts possible.
But on eBay, there are thousands of small businesses and families selling clothing.
It would be nice if they all had access to better sizing charts, especially because a "S" by one manufacturer, can be far different in size, from others.
Thanks,
Lynn

I have this problem no matter where I buy so not sure how you don't. Unless your issue is buying a lot from China? China sizing runs much smaller. But even in American sizing it can be all over the place. I have short that are size 7 and shorts that are size 11. I have shirts that are small and some that are medium. Same with dresses some mediums some small. Some 2s and some 4s. Sizing is not consistent among brands or even among different styles in the same brand. If you're not good with measuring yourself buying in person is likely the best route to ensure fit.

I would recommend laying a shirt on the floor that you like the way it fits. Measure it from armpit to armpit and collar to the bottom. This will give you an idea of the size you like. Then buy from sellers thst give measurements not just size. This may help you purchase shirts you will be happy with.

OP, I notice you sold a shirt recently here on Ebay. You included exactly ZERO measurements in your listing.

When you say you are a size small, what size in inches is that exactly ? This is the major problem when buyers purchase tops, ask them what size they are and i guarantee you they will say s,m,l,xl,2xl - here lies the problem, if i lay 5 size small tops from different brands i guarantee you will not find any of them the exact same size, the best way to determine if a top fits you is to take the measurement given from a seller underarm - underarm and measure it against something you already have, if the measurement is not there ask the seller to provide it, I have lost count of the amount of Negative feedback i have seen left for sellers saying fits more like a Medium or a large etc, of course they do, they are different brands and different fits, that is no fault of a seller, ask for measurements, the only alternative is to shop in store and try it on, never understood how buyers blame a seller for clothing that doesn't fit them, only you know your true size and the brand and style that suits you best.

Most who sell new - use clothing charts. You can always email them and ask for specific measurements before purchasing.
You received advice on how to measure a shirt of your own that does fit. I sell clothing and in tops include measurements for shoulder to shoulder, underarm to underarm and length from shoulder to hem. I often include the sleeve length. I include measurements on all my listings whether they be new or used and have started putting measurements on many of the children's items I picked up.
One manufacturers large is another's medium plus style and fabric also can be a determining factor on whether you need a larger of smaller size.

i have the same problem. i have bought four shirts from ebay, not one of them fit. every one is to small. i will admit that one was my fault, the ad title said xxl mens and then down in the description is says its a slim fit xxl which basically means its a de facto xl and not really a xxl at all. i mean these shirts are not anywhere close to xxl. they fit my wife and she is a small lady.
i think the reason sellers have these shirts for sale is because they are odd ball sizes or factory rejects.
Oftentimes it's how the brand runs, too - 'vanity sizing' is a very over-used concept, a lot of brands don't vanity size. I recall the cycling jersey my DH got that did not fit his medium size - it was so small that he gave it to his bantam weight riding buddy. Made in Italy - should have known - Italian sizing is notoriously narrow.
Old thread but an eternal problem.
