Price gouging question.

If i were to buy some of those "overpriced" N95 masks to re-sell, and marked them up using the SAME calculations i use to mark up any of my other items, no more no less, would that be considered price gouging?

You can’t list them at all, along with sanitizers and wipes.

Everyone has options. Just be sure the best option is right for you.

Re: Price gouging question.

Their reply is STILL valid - I'm sure you're smart enough to realize that - but, just in case, let me ask you a different form of the question.
If there was NOT a coronavirus pandemic, would you pay $200 for some masks in the first place???

Re: Price gouging question.

Frankly, I don't believe that the N95 masks are effective against the virus either for keeping people from getting it or from spreading it.  Of course, the false security that it brings to some has caused a run on stores that normally carry them.  Actually, what that has caused is a shortage of them for people that normally use them in their work to protect against thinks like sawdust and the like.

Re: Price gouging question.

BY LAW "These price gouging restrictions make it illegal for businesses to raise the prices of most goods and services by more than 10%.” Varies by State however this is a pretty good number.

Would love to see the Feds arrest of few of these SCUM.

BY LAW

I could buy a bunch of these boxes of masks for $1,000 a box, then turn around and re-sell them for half that, $500 a box, take a $500 a box loss, and STILL be called a price gouger.   I just find that odd.

Not just that. Every state has anti-price gouging laws that range from hefty fines to jail terms.

Re: Price gouging question.

No matter what you bought it for, if its offered for sale at (clearly) way above the rrp, then i think anybody should class it as gouging. Yoh shouldn’t have paid more than the retail price yourself in the first place, so to pass the rip off price to somebody else is ripping them off.

Re: Price gouging question.

That clears everything up.  Anything sold for "way above" RRP is price gougning.  Thank you!

Re: Price gouging question.

I would say that any smart seller would realize that the $200 was over priced and price gouging. So common sense would tell them that buying them from the source at that price would be rewarding them for being unethical and contributing to the problem when they then try to resell at yet another markup. This then makes them no better then the first person who overpriced them. Since when does pointing the finger at someone else and saying "Well, they did it too!" excuse bad behavior or wrong doing? You wouldn't buy anything else like a TV or a pair of shoes at a much higher price than it's worth and then mark it up even higher to sell it, so why then masks and other supplies needed in a crisis?

Re: Price gouging question.

The problem is not the sellers. The problem is all of these immature crazies out there bidding items up that people need to extreme prices. Shame on you for doing this, and then talking about price gouging! How can I control what someone bids an item up to? Just shows us that your intelligent level, and maturity level is extremely low! There are tons of crazies out there opening up e-bay accounts, and then bidding up toilet paper to $500 dollars. They never actually pay for it you simpletons! All they do is cause hatred within America! The scum bags doing this are absolutely worthless! If I start an auction at $1 how can I possibly price gouge you when you bid it up to $100.  What e-bay needs to do is take drastic measures in shutting down, and prosecuting these fake bidders to the Max. They make everyone look bad. I just thinks that most people really don't seem to understand what is going on here. These idiots are turning fake propaganda over to the government, and news media. Causing them to waste their precious time on morons, rather than the pandemic! I must say that people really need to educate themselves on this matter! And e-bay it is about time that you stood up for the seller as opposed to fake bidders whom in the end are going to destroy your good name!
