@paniying

There is no "Used" condition at "Clothing, Shoes & Accessories" category, only "Pre-owned" condition.

So the only choice for the Chanel bag condition is "Pre-owned"

What's the difference?

Pre-Owned mostly means someone elsed own it but might never used it.

Used mostly means someone else owned it but is used.

It deals with Buyers psyche thinking that the bag was used and dirty if you put used. Its all in people minds

Doesn't work that way with automobiles.

Pre-owned and used are the same. Any fool knows that.

Pre-owned = used

Used = Pre-owned

You can only choose the one that's available in the category.  However, you can call it whatever you want in the description.

Pre-owned is just the classy way to say "used".  As a Clothing seller, we never sell "used" clothes, only "pre-owned".  It's just the kinder, gentler, more upscale way of saying "used".   They mean the same thing, but in Clothing, no one likes to purchase "used", they like to purchase "pre-owned".

It's kind of like the difference between a "pit to pit" measurement vs. "bust" or "underarm to underarm".  I would never use the phrase "pit to pit", conjures up unpleasant images to the buyer.

Pre-owned = used ???

Used = Pre-owned

Abraham famously asked: If you call a tail a leg how many legs does a dog have?

If I buy something from a wholesaler (or even at a retail store) but I never use it and then I resell it, it is both “preowned” and “New”. Preowned is NOT a synonym for used as much as you might like to call that tail a leg..

People would rather buy a "pre-owned" car than a "used" car.   😉

Absolutely! And there are many other differences when it comes to selling automobiles vs handbags (the subject of this thread).

Nope.  But it DOES make a difference in some categories.  In CSA, people want to buy "pre-owned", not "used".  It makes a HUGE difference.  Otherwise, why would eBay call it pre-owned in CSA, but not other categories.   I get that it's semantics, but it DOES matter in the category that OP was asking about.   So much so that years ago it accidentally got changed in 1 of the IS changes & there was such an uproar, that it changed back promptly.
