Possible scammer?

I just put on an old laptop and a tablet on eBay. On my Notebook, the bidders who were just created on 20 and 23 December were bidding 3 times in a row overbidding themselves. This seems like some sort of scam, what can I do against it?

On my second product, I was asked to ship the device to France by an account just created today.

Reading the issues with the new payment system I'm actually getting fears of being scammed.

Do away with auctions and list as a fixed price with immediate payment required.

It has nothing to do with the new payment system, if they are out to scam you, they will.

And what if he claims that the item wasn't as described or damaged? I get the feeling that I should just try to stop the auction and sell it to someone I know.

@losspost

If he claims the item isn't as described or damaged, he'll open a Return request and you'll be refunding.

Yes, selling it to someone you know is the more viable option. Good luck to you.

Thanks, I guess with an 1000€ item I am better looking somewhere else. I am also selling a tablet but there the bidding looks normal, through its only an approx. 400€ Item.

If they did file an INAD and sent back their broken one or a box of rocks, you would have to refund.

Yes, that would probably be better.

Ebay just isn't the place any more to sell some items, to many thieves.
