Recently got tagged for a violation attempting to sell outside ebay. Could not figure out what I was doing wrong and neither could an ebay CSR so she passed it off to the "appeals process" department - and ... crickets. Tried again and another CSR told me it was because my pictures showed websites and bar codes. These were not inks but merely the manufacturer's websites and bar codes on the product packaging not anything I put in the description text. Found many other active listings with similar info in the pictures. My question is - do any of you experienced sellers actually crop out the manufacturer websites and UPC bar codes in your pics? Or am I just the victim of AI error.
Thanks, Confused Novice

I doubt your violations resulted from pictures of the packaging in your listing.
Did you happen to receive any questions from buyers who may have indicated a problem with their accounts and requested to text you?

No, none of that. I don't believe the pics were the problem either. CSR just didn't want to bother to figure it out. Had to delete the listing and repost it with cropped pictures. Checked my previous listings and I had plenty of packaging pics in those without any problems. You would think ebay would want to find out why their algorithms are triggering false violations. Anyway, thanks for your response. Never got anything back from the "appeals process" people.

Well actually if you are posting a website or UPC bar code in your picture that can be considered as trying to make a sale outside of Ebay. Even though you personally weren't attended to do so it can be looked that way.
