eBay just updated the policy to wipe out everything aquatic except for brine shrimp (sea monkeys).
The note on that email, "This change will be implemented 30 days after the receipt of this email," gives you the deadline by which you need to take down your listings to avoid being permanently suspended.
Looks like you'll have to take your awesome bettas elsewhere, and you'll only be able to continue on eBay with a different line of products.

It would be shipping that would be the problem. It would just be a matter of time before someone tried stuffing a live puppy into a box with air holes and mailing it.

i was planning to close my account and stop selling fish, because of the high fees of 20-25% from ebay and many cases of fraud from buyers that ebay can not help sellers, then i received news that ebay banned selling live fish on their platform, sad because of losing income but happy because of the ban and i believe they will lose millions of dollars from people selling live animals like me, in general ebay fees are high and do not protect sellers (prioritize and protect buyers) i hope to close the ebay platform

My guess is eBay decided the customer issues relative to the revenue they were getting from sellers of live animals wasn’t worth it.
Too many dead on arrival issues. This policy will be a good for the sake of all of the animals that die due to freezing, over heating, and lack of oxygen because delayed shipping or animals left outside too long.

I believe eBay knows that, and I believe eBay took that into consideration before announcing the ban, and I believe eBay was not frightened by it.

Things didn't work out for you, so you want to hurt the millions of other sellers that use eBay to run their small businesses and support themselves and their families?

Wrong. Your departure will merely make more room for sellers who respect living creatures.
And eBay will be laughing at you when the door closes behind you.
Adios!

Agreed. I liked using ebay, but, had these same gripes. Buyers ignored my policies and ebay protected them..it came to me screening and canceling transactions with buyers with no history to protect myself before sending ...The absurd fees ebay charged me makes this cancelation work for me. Good bye Ebay

Dead on arrival is at the risk of the seller...always. so us sellers that choose to take this risk have to make it our business to be Savvy about how we ship fish. If we didn't succeed doing it we wouldn't be doing it for very long.

Those selling live animals on ebay it's time to move on. Let's just say for instance though Ebay decided to ban trading cards because of the high rates of counterfeit merchandise. It's a punishment to all those involved not just the ones that are the perpetrators. There are bad players in every sector. If you build a whole business that revolves around selling on eBay only, consider this business fragile and at risk. There are many good vendors on eBay dealing live animals where possibly this was their sole platform. I totally understand the anger and frustration that can come from a decision like this, but I wouldn't wish it on any other sector to anyone selling on eBay. Just know that this happened here it can happen to you.
