Permantly Restricted From Selling

Hey guys,

My account was just permenantly restricted for selling on eBay.

There was no reason given.

First, I got a 5 day payout hold. Then, after it ended I got restricted from editing any listings or posting any new ones.

This morning, I got the email and all listings were removed. They have about $2.5k of mine sitting on hold.

I’ve been selling for 13 months and have sold almost 14,000 items and have no clue why this happened.

I spoke to support on the phone and they were no help at all. I saw a like-minded thread and filed a complaint with the BBB.

Any advice folks?

Cheers

Rich

We would need some more info here. Did your email say anything regarding why? You DO have an abnormally high amount of less-than-positive feedback for not-as-described, etc. Have you had a lot of cases opened? There are limits (though we don't know them). What does your seller dashboard say?

I seriously don't think the BBB, of all places, is the place to start. What did ebay actually do? It's their site and they can do what they see fit. As far as holding your money, they want it safe until everything is worked out. I'm guessing not everything has worked out...

@beaniebabesnc

Sorry for your situation.  As @annadryl  pointed out you have some less than favorable feedback, not to mention it looks like you cancelled several sales.  That can be the kiss of death on Ebay.  Did Ebay ask you to provide any receipts for what you were selling?  We're those authentic beanie babies?  Just trying to understand why you were restricted...more info would be helpful.

Permantly Restricted From Selling

Hey there, I have had 6 negative feedback in the last 13 months. I have had 2 returns that I refunded without them needing to return, I offer free shipping, free returns, etc for top rated.

They emailed me asking for proof of address and identity, which I provided. They also asked for invoices for my inventory, which I don’t have. I thrift shop, flea market, and buy my inventory from private collections and 95% of items are 8.99 with free shipping or less. I offered my bank statements & PayPal statements that show these purchases.

I then got a response saying to ship all of my items out, and make sure there were no cases against me (there wasn’t), they said to contact back once I did.

That was yesterday on a weekend, so I packaged up all of my orders and it’s still not even Monday morning yet, and I got the suspension email.

I figured 3000+ positive feedback vs. 6 negative feedback was great for the volume I do.

I don’t cancel many sales at all unless requested by the buyer. I can’t even remember the last time I have cancelled a sale for a reason of my own.

They are authentic, and the valuable ones I sell are newly authenticated.

They did ask for receipts from a distributor, which I don’t have. These items are 1993-2005 99% of the time, I get them from private collections (mostly people’s attics on Facebook) so I was trying to explain that to them.

The answer lies in your seller dashboard.  Your number of unresolved cases is probably over the acceptable percentage as is your number of cancellations.  Have you checked this?

I don't know where to even see this. I am top rated so I figured my numbers were great. A couple months ago I went below rated for 1 month due to this, but since have fixed it

We are members like you and cannot see your account specifics.  On seller hub there is a link to your seller dashboard.

Just a hunch if they asked you for invoices of all your inventory and you don't have them then this could be the main reason of suspension. Especially if you've been selling high volume 14,000 items is a lot. This happened to a big shoe seller who sold a huge volume in shoes. Then ebay asked him for invoices proof of ownership. He could not provide the invoices / paperwork so he got suspended also. I don't think there is anyway around this from here on since they said permanently restricted you can't fix this. Bank statements and PayPal Statements would seem to not be enough proof for them. Those are not considered as original purchase invoices, neither would a receipt from the thrift store help. And 5 unresolved cases might also do it.

Maybe it's just the sheer amount in sales in quick order? Your positive feedback looks great, but there's so MUCH of it. Maybe you're picking up operations for the holidays? Your last 200 feedback are within the last month.

This is speedy for a new-ish account and might set off some alarms. Operations and situations aren't always ascertained by warm-blooded actual people, much of it is automated. Maybe that set off some bells? Just a thought.

My sales have heated up. They were about $500 a day in Q4 of last year, but only $200-400 a day for most of this year. This last month has been extremely good, $500-$1000 in sales per day.I just don’t know how to fix this

You can't fix this.  A permanent suspension is permanent.  You were asking why and we were giving reasons.  There is nothing to be done but find another venue.

So, they weren't new as your listings stated?

Have a great day.
