I just sold 2 different items to the same buyer. Instead of "paid" or "ship" it says "payment total requested". I've never had this happen before. Why is this even possible when the prices and shipping charges are clearly listed? Other than send the buyer a email telling him to go ahead and check out, what am i supposed to do?

It should show the option to Send Invoice. Send them an invoice for the two items. They are probably hoping that you will offer a reduction in the shipping.

The buyer assumes you combine shipping and offer a discount when you do.
You do offer combined shipping discounts on some of your listings, perhaps the cart is not calculating it correctly or pehaps it did but the buyer didn't see that.
I notice the statement "eligible items" so perhaps the items in question are not eligible but the buyer thinks they are.
In any event, just send an invoice because the buyer is waiting for one.

they are requesting a combined shipping total... common practice on ebay for buying more than 1 item from someone...

He bought 2 items that were $6 S&H for the first item + $3 each additional.
Then he bought 2 items that were $8 S&H for the first item + $3 each additional.
If he went ahead and checked out, normally i would charge him $8 + $3 + $3 + $3 and refund him $3.
So apparently he's requested a total or an invoice. In all the years i've been selling on ebay i've never had this happen.
I've looked all over. I don't see an option to send an invoice.

My options are:
Add tracking number
Mark as payment received
Mark as shipped
Leave feedback
View order details
Contact buyer
Cancel order
Sell similar
Resolve a problem
Add note
Add to list
Report this buyer

Are you in My eBay or the Seller Hub?
Doesn't really matter, the send option will be in the pull down "actions" menu.
There is also probably a link on the Order Details page.
There may be a link on one of the Item pages.
Also there should be a "send invoice" link in the email you received.

I read the options you posted where Send Invoice doesn't exist. Perhaps that tab is in another location?
I can't remember at this moment because this is not a selling ID account but I never had a problem combining shipping and sending the Invoice from the Request a Total message.
Plus, regardless of what I entered as the cost for shipping each item, if they all fit into one package (i.e., PFRate Envelope or First Class poly mailer) I would simply reduce the shipping I had listed per item (which usually was no less than $2.66 each) and adjust it to only charge my buyer what I would pay in postage.
Padded Flat Rate envelope was always $6.90.
I'm not sure if this is the normal way but it's what I did.
And I never used calculated shipping.
I hope someone with more experience than I can come along and make other suggestions.

Back when the new seller hub came out, i don't and never used it.
I wonder if that has something to do with it?

Thank you Jimmy! I found it. It was in the message sent to me by ebay.

Of course i offered a combined shipping discount ... but what if i didn't.
Is the buyer already committed to go through with the purchase?

When you add multiple items to the cart (same seller) and request a total you are then committed to buy which is why they are showing up in your Sold section.
Of course there is no way to enforce that commitment.
