So I sold two game codes on ebay on 2/28/2016 and I am now getting two chargebacks-unauthorized use of credit card. Yes I read some previous posts and checked google. I realize I am pretty much screwed.
I sold one to a person with little feed back but didn't email them the code. I sent the game code via usps first class with tracking and that was delivered to the address he/she gave me. I have submitted tracking # and a screenshot of the buyers address (from ebay email to paypal. Is there any chance this will be resolved in my favor? Also a month after I sent this, ebay sends an email saying they are cancelling the buyers bid due to suspicious buyer.
The 2nd one had some feedback so I emailed the code to him via the ebay message system and sent via usps. When I went to leave him feedback I saw that he had some "scammer" feedback. Well this one no chance paypal will rule in my favor right? So is there any way to edit my feedback of this guy? Or should I try to tell ebay/paypal? Any point to submitting screenshots of the ebay messages between me and him to paypal as evidence for the dispute? Any other suggestion to what I should do?
Also for future reference, is sending via usps with tracking "safe"? Thanks

For an unauthorized use chargeback, all you have to do is show proof of shipping.
Thing is, the tracking numbers MAY not work anymore--they don't last forever, which is why (if it's a scammer) they waited so long.
Check the tracking numbers, and if they are valid upload the number into the case. If you shipped to the Paypal address, and have tracking that verifies that, you should win a chargeback case.

I have a question about that.
If you take a screen shot of the tracking number, will ebay accept it?

I doubt it, since the tracking is supposed to be online viewable and screenshots can be faked.

USMCMom,
Has anyone brought that up with Griff or ebay, about the difference in time between how long a tracking number is up and how long buyers have to scream item not received?
Is there anything ebay will accept on the part of the seller?

PayPal reps advise people to take screenshots due to tracking expiring after a certain amount of time. I take screenshots, but have not had to use one yet, so not sure...

emerald - As the eBay window to file a claim is 30 days after item receipt, it would be rare for tracking to expire in that window.
It comes into play mostly with regards to PayPal and/or CC chargebacks. So it's really a matter of whether or not they would accept that kind of documentation. PayPal reps advise people to take screenshots, so I would guess that it's acceptable, but don't know for sure.
As it's more of an issue due to the paypal timeline, Griff will only advise on eBay...

To be eligible for PayPal seller protection on an unauthorized use claim or chargeback, you need proof of shipment (or delivery) to the buyer's "ship to" address on the PayPal transaction details page.
It sounds like you have that for the first transaction, but not for the second transaction.
The USPS keeps tracking information available online for up to 120 days. Get a screen shot of that information now, so that you will have it if needed later.
Call PayPal customer support to have them review your USPS online tracking and make a note in the case that you've satisfied the "proof of shipment" requirement.

you know, I do think someone mentioned that in one of the weakly chats.....but it was a few weeks ago and I don't remember what is reply was, if any.
It would be so easy for Paypal or Ebay to add a permanent record of tracking point by point like Amazon does, but that makes too much sense.

OK, so if I am understanding this correctly, a buyer has only 30 days to say item not received. So it would be covered in the tracking window.
And chargebacks are for items not as described, so they obviously received the item.
So is this only a problem for International transactions where it can take longer for the item to get there?

Buyer has 30 days from delivery (or estimated delivery) to file INR with eBay - but they have 180 days to file with PayPal or most CCs... that is why this is more of an issue with PayPal/CC than with eBay.
International should have a longer estimated delivery window... and I don't know if the USPS keeps tracking for a few months based on date created or based on date delivered... I would hope it's date delivered.

So a buyer can file with paypal or their credit card for item not received, as well?
Is that where the problem is arising?

Yes.
Scammers will wait until the online tracking disappears, then file a chargeback for INR through Paypal or their credit card.
