Package returned/rejected by US Customs

Mailed a package out to Canada. Hits US Customs and gets returned. I guess my description wasn't up to whomever looked at the customs form liking.

It's waiting to be picked up. But was wondering the best way to handle mailing it back out to the buyer. Can I just buy a new label and add the new tracking number to the order? Or should I be doing this a different way?

HI! I thought global shipping handled all that stuff.

Were you given any reason why it was rejected?  It's really hard to get a package sent back from Customs unless it was something that is not allowed to go over the border - I wouldn't want to ship again until I knew why.

I'll verify again tomorrow in person, but over the phone, USPS said it was the description not being descriptive enough. Which could be the case since I just had "Toy." Usually just put makeup or lotion for that type of stuff so I don't know. Could have just gotten someone that day that is overly picky.

Thing that confuses me the most is it even going through US Customs. It's possible it isn't always the case, or it's just not usually shown on tracking. But after getting released from customs it shows up at my box waiting to get picked up a few days later.

They do. But stuff to Canada that is under 4 pounds, I usually send it Simple Export.

Once you correct the problem

I see no reason why you couldn't buy  another shipping label and re-send the package.

FYI, because the package is being sent to Canada, it is Canada Customs that rejected it. They probably have an office at the USPS International facility because it handles a lot of of the mail going to Canada. From their viewpoint, they would rather that rejected packages not enter the country at all, to save money, space and time.

I'd be more descriptive and try again, but not be surprised if it bounced back.  There has been a surprising number of toys not getting through customs even through global shipping.  It seems every country has tightened up and changed regulations.  If you ship through the GSP, it apparently does offer some protection for you against the unknowns.

hmmm, I'll ask about that then. I may just refund altogether. Already losing money because of the label. No point losing more for a, "Might make it through."
