According to eBay Trust and Safety, any PAINTBALL GUN (since standard caliber is .43 cal and up) being sold with PAINTSOFT RUBBER BALLS, are against eBay policy.
As we were hit with 7 listing removals and 2 violations in 24 hours and a 7 day wait just to have trust and safety tell us, it's against BB gun policy due to the balls included in the product.
Paintsoft Rubber Balls are not metal nor are they plastic. They are not potentially lethal unlike Metal BBs which you can buy on eBay, and are less harmful than traditional paintballs since you can't get paint in your eyes/mouth.
We're trying to understand how eBay T&S comes up with this logic? It's highly unprofessional and it seems like they love to mess with people's accounts if they're selling anything that they cannot properly define by policy simply because they have to make up rules to keep people down rather than taking the accountability and resolution that was requested.
We'll start sending letters and emails to corporate if we have to. You cannot make up rules just because the team responsible hasn't updated them to be less than how vague they are now regarding these products specifically. The items aren't even illegal in California, it's just a paintball gun... Seriously, what is going on with these guys.

If eBay says you can’t list it, then you can’t list it. The caliber of the paint gun maybe part of the violation as well.
Policy says.

Here's the thing - eBay absolutely can make up rules, because it's their sandbox. Good luck with those letters and emails to corporate.

So I think it might be against the law in some states of the USA. And since eBay sells to everyone it could very well be just one state. Just a thought.

I have a couple of vintage brand new cap guns i could have gotten good money for, but selling them on ebay is a huge no-no in this day and age.

it's against BB gun policy
It is against the "BB guns, pellet guns, airsoft, air rifles and air pistols " policy, not the "BB gun" policy.
We're trying to understand how eBay T&S comes up with this logic?
You will never know why they did it.
It's highly unprofessional
Translation - "I don't like it"
it seems like they love to mess with people's accounts if they're selling anything that they cannot properly define by policy
It is clearly defined by policy.
rather than taking the accountability and resolution that was requested
eBay does not not have to waive a clearly defined policy just because you don't like it.
You cannot make up rules just because the team responsible hasn't updated them to be less than how vague they are now
The policy says "The gun is not greater than .25 caliber". You stated your gun is .43 caliber. That is not "vague".

Sadly, that is not the case as a paintball gun is not an airgun. The "airsoft, airgun, bb gun" categorization is defined by it's projectile.
If a paintball gun were an airgun, there wouldn't be a category separate from "airguns" just like the "airsoft guns" are not placed into the "airgun" category. As "Air Guns & Slingshots" doesn't include paintball guns, that unfortunately would be invalid.
We've gotten the issue resolved as it was clearly misunderstood such as the comments received on this post.

PRODUCT IS NOT A BB GUN, PELLET GUN, AIRSOFT, AIR RIFLE, OR AIR PISTOL BASED ON THE EBAY CATEGORIES IN WHICH THE POLICIES ARE CREATED
it seems like they love to mess with people's accounts if they're selling anything that they cannot properly define by policy
It is clearly defined by policy.
Wrong.
You cannot make up rules just because the team responsible hasn't updated them to be less than how vague they are now

.43 CALIBER PAINTBALL GUNS ARE ALLOWED TO BE SOLD ON EBAY REGARDLESS OF CALIBER AS CALIBERS START AROUND .40 CAL FOR PAINTBALL GUNS. - search paintball gun and find a genuine paintball marker lower than .25 caliber, I'll wait.
rather than taking the accountability and resolution that was requested
eBay does not not have to waive a clearly defined policy just because you don't like it.
We follow all policies, regardless. It would be nice if someone knowledgeable in the category had information but we got it resolved as we were correct and the misunderstanding regarded the ammunition, not the product itself.
We've also already been told that the policies apply if there is no way to discern a paintball gun from an air gun based on the projectile and the initial issues were mistaken.

They only go by key words. The people you have to try and deal with know nothing. Only the list of "verboten" key words.
If they say no, then it's no. You don't want to be banned from selling for life.
