I have a new store with only 13 reviews so i cannot afford a bad review, but i have a person who bid on two collectable plates. each plate was $4.00 with $12,95 shipping. I told him i would take one of the shipping charges off. I gave him a discount of $12.95 so he was only paying one shipping charge. I explained this on his invoice and in an email. The response i got back is to see if we can work on the shipping charges. He purchased the item on the 13th. I sent him a second invoice today again explaining that  i discounted the amount of one of the shipping charges. He (or she) still has not paid for the items.

Not sure what to do at this point. Should i wait longer? Should I report it? Like i said in the beginning, i cannot afford to get a bad review because i insist he pay for at least one of the shipping fees. Afterall, the fees are clearly listed on the platform.

thank you for your help.

You've made a discount. If your buyer hasn't paid after 96 hours, cancel the sale citing 'Buyer hasn't paid. They'll get a UI strike, you'll be free to relist. Good luck.

You can cancel this transction based on 'Buyer did not pay" if the buyer hasn't paid after 4 full days (96 hours). So if he won them on the 13th, then some time today the option will show up to cancel based on "Buyer didn't pay."  This will block him from leaving feedback of any type.

Here is the Help page about what to do if a buyer doesn't pay:

https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/getting-paid/resolving-unpaid-items-buyers?id=4137

To help avoid arguments about postage, I set up my listings with calculated shipping, and in my listing Description I mention that (1) the shipping shown in the listing is the exact cost to ship from my ZIP Code to the buyer's; and (2) if a buyer wins more than one item, I will send a revised invoice with the exact postage cost for the combined package (based on their location and the new package weight) IF they wait for the revised invoice before paying. In your specific case, the buyer was clearly being unreasonable in asking you to ship 2 items for less than the original cost to ship just one.

So when you say he paid you mean he just won and he hasn’t paid the invoice you sent him correct? It seems you have explained the discount the best you can and he is probably trying to talk you in circles until you just give in to free shipping. Send him the invoice one more time with something like if the discount isn’t satisfactory he can ask you to cancel. You can do so by giving the reason buyer requested and you will not get a defect. No need to talk to him anymore if he doesn’t request to cancel and doesn’t pay after 4 days on day 5 file non paying bidder, block him, and realist. If he pays send the item.

Shipping half off is a hella good deal. Some people don't  know when to quit. Give rhen an inch and they'll want a mile.

The OP said, "I sent him a second invoice today again explaining that  i discounted...," so yet another message from the seller probably won't help.

OP has contacted seller twice, and been more than generous in picking up the shipping charge on on item.

I say:  No more communication.  Hope buyer does not pay at this point.  Cancel sale for non-payment.  Let buyer take deserved strike.   Block buyer.   Move on to more reasonable customers.

Regarding the 96 hours (4 full days) to wait and then cancel on the 5th day using "buyer did not pay":

As I understand it from some of the seller comments here, if you continue to correspond in any way with the buyer, the 96-hours may reset each time you make a communication with him/her. So don't do anything that could drag this along, and above all, don't ship the item until the buyer legitimately pays your latest invoice.

You've already been quite generous by cutting the shipping fees in half!  Put it on the buyer to either "fish or cut bait", as the saying goes, and either pay or get his/her purchase cancelled by you on the 5th day of no payment. Then either way, put this buyer on your BBL (Blocked Buyer List) so he/she doesn't try to pull this stunt on you again.

Cheers, Duffy

Yes it won’t help in this situation and when I posted that I wasn’t thinking about him being blocked right away after canceling so he wouldn’t be able to leave feedback saying yet again he doesn’t understand lol 😁

I would come back at $15 for combined shipping

your time is valuable and at only $4 for the purchase price it wont be long before you are making zero on this

its easy to barely break even with a $4 selling price.

it sounds like you have a pro chiseler for a buyer

good luck

ALL buyers have 96 hours to pay (4 days).  If not paid within that time, the seller can cancel, using "buyer did not pay" as reason,

You really need to go back and read all the information here about what a seller can do if a transaction goes wrong.

Quit sending invoices.

No, the questions in the past were over whether the clock resets if you send another invoice. Simply sending messages back and forth does not reset the clock.

From what I recall, the final answer was No, sending another copy of the invoice does not reset the timer.

I just verified that I sold it on the 12th at 15:15. However, when i try to cancel the order it only gives me three options, none are nonpayment. In fact. it tells me the date sold was today (maybe because i send another invoice today?) on the cancellation page, but on the item page it says it was sold on the 12th.

I see from the feed back on their profile that i am not the only one they have not paid..... there is another non payment within the last month.
