Firstly, I would like to point out that this has nothing to do with avoiding tariffs, taxes, fees or anything of that sort.
If you are a not impacted and/or don't have facts/knowledge of the situation, it would be greatly appreciated if you avoid partaking in this conversation. The amount of assumptions and nonsense posted in threads on the issue by US-members these past few weeks has not been helpful to anyone.
Thus, my question would be - As a non-US seller, how has your selling procedure been since the tariffs were implemented? How have you avoided US buyers or has your country figured out the tariffs? I have read that many have set a very high shipping cost for US buyers. How has that worked for you? Have you had to cancel many sales?
Personally, I live in a country where the shipment of goods to the US has been stopped by the national postal service (equal to USPS) and I have no intention to use another shipping provider due to logistics and pricing for the items that I sell (used, collectibles). To add, using any other eBay site than eBay.com is not an option.
While I mainly sell to buyers in the US, I have many customers purchasing from Canada, Europe, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand. Thus I would very much like to get my store up and running again (after closing it prior to August 29th). I was hopeful that eBay.com would make it possible to exclude US-buyers for the time being, but that doesn't seem to come to fruition.
I am considering setting a $999.99 shipping cost for US buyers until further notice. Thoughts on this? Any other suggestions?
Looking forward to hearing from other non-US sellers impacted on eBay.com on this issue. I hope we can have a formal discussion. Thank you. -howe1850
EDIT: Just to add, we pay 25% VAT on any goods purchased from outside the European Union, thus the tariffs themselves are not the issue in this matter.
