New user made large purchase

A new user that just joined eBay today purchased a $350 E Scooter from me that's been listed for well over a year. This raises red flags to me for obvious reasons. What my best course of action? Should I just process the order?

Your call, but remember, we all started at 0 at some point. Perhaps the buyer found something he liked and decided to join eBay to make his purchase. Difficult to tell. But, always trust your gut. I don't have a dog in this fight, nothing to gain or lose. I bet that responders will be divided, some say sell, others will say cancel.

Yes, they could have came here via Google or some other link when finding your item, so I'd go through with it. Be sure to select signature confirmation on the shipping.   

 

At a minimum maybe pull up their address in Google maps to make sure it seems like a reasonable shipping location.

I can't even begin to tell you how many people with zero feedback, or newbies, purchased items from me last year but it was a LOT. No issues. They paid, you ship it. I don't see what your obvious reasons are. Sorry.

My opinion only:

 

If you have to ask, then $350 is above your comfort threshold and it wouldn't matter who purchased it.  Either ship it or cancel, refund and don't list it again.  Sell it in person for cash in hand.

 

The way it works is list, sell, ship - and it doesn't matter what the feedback of the buyer is.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

If the account does not NARU in a day or two, I would ship. Sometimes with a stolen credit card, it takes a day or two catch up with the perp.

Sounds like the buyer is having it shipped to where he works. I would ship it with written signature confirmation...not digital signature confirmation.

This is what I'm gonna do. This is exactly why I posted about this, to see what input others had. I most likely would've shipped it without a signature otherwise

I'd ship as soon as payment is made and ebay says it's okay to ship. Even if the account is suspended after shipment, you're protected. (After I've shipped, I've received notices telling me not to ship but as long as delivery is shown, I've never lost a cent.)

SC isn't necessary for $350. All the seller needs for an INR claim is tracking showing delivery.

EBay requires Signature Confirmation on any shipment valued over $750.

But it is still a useful tool for sellers, since the item will not be left on the doorstep.

 

Since this is a company, why not phone them, explain that you are shipping the wheelchair and ask if they have the ability to receive it without damage. If you have to explain it to Reception before asking for the customer, that makes it even harder for the customer to cheat somehow.

I would only list this as pick-up only and the buyer pays in person after trying it out. 

 

reasons:

1. buyer is brand new making a first-time hefty purchase. Will probably file a claim after receiving. 

 

2. Are you including the battery?  That could be shipping safety issue!

 

3. If no battery, that still leaves an easy case for the buyer to claim, the item does not work. 

 

I could go on, but I think you and everyone else gets what I'm trying to say.
