Ok, so i opened a shop on eBay and it says free 250 listings. Great, love it but...it will only let me list 5 items. I'm confused. Most of my products come in varieties so I can barely list 3 things that I have that don't need variations. Why am I paying a subscription price for only 5 items? I tried to get limit increased but it says I can't until I get a seller rating. How can I get that if I can't list items? lol

Having a store does not increase the amount of items you are allowed as a new seller, you still have to earn/build that reputation

Couple of points.
1. "Free 250 Listings" does not mean totally free. It means you don't pay an "insertion fee", you will still have to pay the "final value fee" when your listings end.
2. Take it slow, eBay is fairly complicated. Finish your first 5 auctions, build a reputation and your ability to list will expand.

So should I wait to subscribe to a plan until I have ratings? Feel like I just threw money away.
I understand that I will pay fees when I sell, thats not the issue. Its just confusing that it says 250 listings but then on another page it stops me and says 5. I sell on Etsy as well and have all 5 star reviews (except 1 ) so I know I can get ratings, if i can list products.

Did you subscribe to annual store subscription or month to month?
Yes you should build your seller status and build listing / monthly money restrictions first then move to a store if that is what you want

Did you sign up for an Annual subscription? My bet is that there are no 'do-overs'... if you've already subscribed, you'll have to accept it or buy out of it.

@nu2u_collections yes you should have not paid for a store.
Having "free" listings per month does not mean you can use them all. eBay has seller limits and the limits trump all others.
It is 2 different things.
All new sellers have a low dollar / listing number. This is to protect eBay, buyers and sellers.
There is much to learn about selling here.
Good luck!

With a new account, I would start buying some regular everyday items that I use off eBay to build up my feedback count.
It takes a few months to get traction on eBay and it will take sales to do that. Successful completed transactions. Then eBay will allow you to list more.
Once you get over a 100 or so feedback from buying and selling, then open another account for buying only. Only mix buying and selling to build up feedback then use your selling account for selling only.

And sometimes buying out of it (cancelling and paying the penalty) is less expensive than paying the monthly fee for the entire year when you're still restricted to listing so few items.

I'd still contact eBay and see if I could plea ignorance of the item limits, and maybe they will cancel the store since it looks like you signed up only today. Worth a shot IMHO.

I'd say it's worth a shot, but I'm still betting on no 'do-overs'. But, heck, yes... try it. Reach out through facebook with a message on the eBay page. You'll receive intelligible email responses. Good luck...
