New selling/payment rules?

Under the new selling/manage payment rules....if your ebay account is hacked, is your bank account also hacked? I had my ebay account hacked, one time many years ago. Thanks

Re: New selling/payment rules?

No, there is no record of any of your details within your own account.

eBay themselves would have to be hacked and the only time this has ever hapened was in 2014 and the hackers coould not get past eBay's encryptions to access any financial details.

Your question is a bit broad and depends upon what you mean by the term "hacked".

If someone currently has access to you eBay account, then they can manipulate your listing activity which may result in fees being charged to your bank account. And they could conceivably start issuing refunds to your buyers, which would also result in charges to your bank account.

Separate from listing and selling activity, if someone currently has access to you eBay account then they would also have the ability to buy items from other sellers and and this would be charged to your funding source for purchases (which is probably a completely different funding source, like PayPal account or a credit card, but those purchasing funding sources might be attached to your bank account if you set it up that way).

But if you are asking whether a hacker would be able to access your bank account directly and drain funds out of it, the answer is probably no. All they would have would be your account number and your bank's routing number, both of which are available at the bottom of any check you write.
