Didn't "New (other)" used to mean the item was new, but something like open box or missing retail packaging?
Now I see "New (other)" is something used that looks like it's never been used which if I remember correctly, used to be designated "Like New."
Maybe it's just me, but I don't consider "New (other)" to be a used item in any condition. Used is used. "Like new" is like new but implies it's used but doesn't look like it.
I have things I've had for years that I've taken very good care of that look new. But I'd never consider listing them as "New (other)" just because they look new.
It's just one of those changes, unless I'm remembering wrong, that doesn't make any sense to me.

I agree, better to exceed expectations than to disappoint. I'll usually list new, unread TV Guides as Very Good just because of a little bit of edge wear they experience going through the mail.
