New Promotional Offer

Be very carefull fellow sellers!!! This latest promotional offer makes you use up your monthly free listing first, then it will take from the promotional offer.  Which rendors it useless to me as I need my monthly listing during the month.  The promotional listings are only good till july 7th

In the past , they deducted from the promotional listing first  and left your monthly ones alone..BUT NOT THIS TIME!!

Re: New Promotional Offer

Customer service is known to be wrong, unfortunately.

According to the terms of the current promotion:

All existing selling limits on your account (as well as category and item limits) still apply, and may prevent you from creating the maximum number of listings in this Promotion. The Promotion is in addition to the free listings per month as part of the everyday rate plan.

You have two new listings, and none of your listings are auction format. Is your promotion for fixed price? Or under another ID, perhaps? The one-week promotion I received is for auction style only.

Re: New Promotional Offer

The promotion says auction , includes buy it now. My listings are buy it now.  In the past, I was very pleased to see that when they had such a promotion..my listings went on the promotion, even though I still had my free monthly listings available.  Since the promotion is only for a few days..I was happy to save my monthly listings for new items

I thought it would be the same, but after 2 listings I noticed they were coming off of my monthly.  I thought that was a mistake so I called.  Was told that how it is now.

My monthly limit is 700 items..I am no where near that.  I only have 50 free listings a month.  Now I have to end my listing before they relist because it will deduct from my 50, which I will need for new items.

Re: New Promotional Offer

It is for auction WITH BIN.  If you list as GTC it isn't an auction.

Exactly! You always need to read all the details of the promotion.

You answered your own question. The promotion is for AUCTIONS and you are allowed to add BIN to those AUCTIONS. They are not for buy it now listings that you attempted to use.

Re: New Promotional Offer

The offer says "INCLUDES"...I did notice it said auction..I went looking , I couldn't find any auctions with a buy  it now option. If you do a search Auction and Buy it now are totally different categories.   And when I called customer service ..do you think they should have told me?  They did not, they told me "this is how it is now" in reference to them using my  monthly listings first.

Re: New Promotional Offer

It's under the terms and conditions:

Invited sellers (“Sellers”) who activate the offer and then create a listing in the auction or auction with Buy it Now format,

From eBay Help:

Buy It Now option – auctions

When you add a Buy It Now option to auction-style listings, buyers can either purchase your item right away at the Buy It Now price, or place a bid. In most categories, the Buy It Now price has to be at least 30% higher than the auction price.

The Buy It Now price is available only until someone bids on the item or until the reserve price is met.

Re: New Promotional Offer

One could always do something completely silly such as purchasing a basic store for what, $15 and not have to jump through all these hoops all the time?  I just can't see how that's profitable, going through all these headaches for a lousy 15 bucks, unless you're homeless maybe.

Re: New Promotional Offer

I don't buy a lot of items, and seldom bid in auctions, but I think I've run across the auction with buy it now format when doing a search of sold items.

Perhaps the wording could have been a little clearer on the offer title, but the terms and conditions section clarified the offer. At least you didn't list a bunch of GTC before noticing it was drawing from your free listing allotment.

Re: New Promotional Offer

It's sad that ebay's phone reps are not familiar with their employer's terminology.

Many mistakenly call fixed price listings buy it nows, since you can buy it now,  but ebay doesn't call them that.   They use the BIN term with auctions when you add that BIN price to the listing.

I couldn't find any auctions with a buy  it now option

There are millions of them on eBay right now. I did a search for "book" and there were a handful in first 25 listings.

when I called customer service ..do you think they should have told me?  They did not, they told me "this is how it is now" in reference to them using my  monthly listings first.

Having read this board daily for years, yours woud be about the 10,000th time someone reported that customer support gave them incomplete, misleading, or just plain wrong answers.

IMHO you should always carefully read the terms of the promotion.
