Hi, Am I reading the new eBay fee system correctly, is eBay now charging us sellers 13% on the shipping also? The shipping s paid by the customer, the monies do not go to me and they go to postal services...Why do I have to take a 13% bite on the shipping??? I charge no handling fees, pay for all supplies and if the government does not charge tax on purchasing to ship, then why do I have to give eBay this huge vicarage for the shipping costs????

eBay has been charging a final value fee based on the buyer's total payment including shipping since 2011. Hadn't you noticed?

Wait till they figure out they are paying fvf on the sales tax as well

All payment processors charge their fees on the entire payment being processed.
PayPal did it as well, but it was only 2.9% so it wasn’t that noticeable and many sellers didn’t even realize it. As noted, eBay was charging FVF on the shipping and item price for a long time as well.
You may need to add a small handling fee to your listings to cover these higher fees.

In eBay/MP I pay 12.55% on the entire buyer payment amount that is processed by eBay. (the new part being sales tax collected/remitted by eBay)
My fees are very close to what I would be paying if I were still under eBay/PP.
My "business model" has been adjusted to cover expenses. (read as..... in most cases adjusted so that the buyer payment covers my expenses)
With the impending PP fee increase I suspect that my fees would be nearly even when compared.
My shipping is often included in the selling price. The FVF being charged on shipping when not included in the price just levels the playing field.

eBay's Final Value Fee has been calculated on the total amount paid the seller by the buyer for at least 8-10 years now.
You aren't saying that this has just now come to your attention are you?

You’re just playing with us, right? Over 2,000 sales and you didn’t notice the FVF on shipping for the past decade?

Yeppers. FVFs are based on item + s&h + sales tax (where applicable). I can still make a little on shipping. You can, too.

For the same reason you were charged 10% on the shipping before.
Their fee's are based on the total amount the buyer pays.
10% plus PayPal’s 2.9%.

It will be interesting to see if we hear anything when those increases happen.
Since by then almost all US sellers will be in Managed Payments (or on other sites) I doubt it.

I think the concept is that they facilitate the process, and provide discounts due to total community volume.
They probably take a bite out of the discconts too.

What's this i hear about some NEW FEES? Can someone please fill me in?
07-20-2021 05:13 PM
The "new" fees.......
FVF on Shipping
FVF on taxes (that one is actually PARTIALLY new)
30 cent transaction fee
International buyer fee
Also "new" but not a fee
No negs for buyers!
eBay should be congratulated for their current level of transparency, all these "new" fees were so well hidden in the past that some people apparently never knew they were paying them.
