New Fee Bummer

The new additional fees are a bummer, wondering how you all feel about it.

I sell graded cards, so prior to even listing I am out $19/unit to grade, plus the cost of the card.  Margins are getting smaller and smaller.

Happy selling to you all!

Re: New Fee Bummer

The 0.35% fee increase is minimal. Just adjust your unit price or shipping costs to cover the increases for the year. Don't be shy, all stores are increasing prices on everything.

Hang in there!

Re: New Fee Bummer

Yes someone else put it into perspective that it's only $35 on every $10,000 of sales.

I feel like the effect is more psychological because for a decade we've been paying 12.9% (minus a few category exceptions).

So for them to raise it, even if it's just a little, is almost setting a precedent and deep down we're wondering what's coming next.

I see it as an occasional event rather than a precedent - the precedent is when they first charged fees to begin with in ?1996.

ETA: What *does* annoy me is the byzantine fee schedule on this site - good grief, it's almost two pages long!

Re: New Fee Bummer

No problem for me.

If I bulk edit my prices by .5% it should cover the .35% increase in my categories.

If I bulk edit my prices by 1% it will far exceed the .35% increase in my categories.

In the "seller hub", on the "active listings" page I can select the listings that I want to edit by putting a check mark in the box at the left of each. Scroll up a bit, and click on "edit".

It will give me the choice to "edit selected", or "edit all". Clicking "edit selected" will open a page where I can edit listings. I can choose to edit pricing by a %age, or by a set amount.

Bulk edit can be used for other changes as well.

Re: New Fee Bummer

And, THAT is how inflation is both advanced ... and survived.

Companies that supply services to me charge are charged more.

Those companies pass those costs on to me and charge me more, because they have to.

I pass those increased costs on to MY customers; because if I don't make a fair profit I won't be there for them tomorrow.

So, raising prices is actually a public good.

Re: New Fee Bummer

@collectorsuniversellc ,

why are you complaining about eBay fees when they have barely budged in the 5 years. You should be directing your complaints to PSA. Grading fees when sending in bulk submissions have gone from $6 per card  to $19 per card in the same time period.

Raise your prices by $1.00 per card to cover the .35% fee increase. The .35% fee increase equals 3.5 cents per $10.00.

I feel the same way about the increase in ebay fees as I do about the increase of gas, groceries and utilities.

I agree with you. It is a bummer, but it's a fact of life.

Re: New Fee Bummer

Will do, I appreciate the support!  Still new to this, so wasn’t planning on factoring in another increased cost.

Re: New Fee Bummer

True that!  I suppose it isn’t that large, yet… I just so happen to be in one of Ebay’s more expensive categories already.

Re: New Fee Bummer

How do you bulk edit prices?  I have only been selling since the start of the year.  I have a business account set up, but no subscriptions.

Re: New Fee Bummer

I suppose but not at the rate it has been going the last year.  Not sure how Ebay’s costs have increased outside of wages.  Not sure how big a workforce they carry.
