Negative feedback

Such a lovely person.  Here is the proof I tried to give the refund & sent him an email explaining I have funds in waiting from a recent sale & would try to refund again once those funds clear.  I do not have a credit card to put on file to give the refund.  I thought eBay would send the refund & take the money from my delayed funds & bank account.  He lies twice in his negative.  Says I ignored the refund request & never mailed the item.  Both are untrue.  Do you feel as I do - he will just keep the item when it arrives & not reimburse me?  Dealing with this nonsense might just be the nail in the coffin for quitting eBay.

Re: Negative feedback

Curious, your debit card...its not connected to a bank branch? My debit card is hooked up to a bank....no checks but it has a routing number. Most debit cards are connect to a bank. If it's a bank debit card ask clerk at bank the routing number which is what you need. Just a thought.

Re: Negative feedback

Shipping from Canada is for some reason rather expensive to another country with tracking.

"Your bank may not allow online debit card purchases. Some banks have policies that prohibit debit card purchases over the internet. This is because debit cards are linked directly to your checking account, and banks are concerned about fraud and identity theft. Your debit card may not be enabled for online purchases."

Wow. That's rough. May I ask if you've tried to link them? To me, there's a difference in "may not" and "cannot". 🤔

Re: Negative feedback

FYI.  @sakic92710  is in Canada.

In Canada, debit cards are processed differently from the way they are in the USA. In the states, a debit card is processed the same way as a credit card, and can be used interchangeably anywhere you would use a credit card.

That is not true in Canada. Debit cards there are processed by a different system (Interac) and can't be used in all the same ways that a credit card can be used. One example off the top of my head, you can't use a debit card in Canada to rent a car. You have to use a credit card.

Re: Negative feedback

Since you have a Checking Account at a Bank (in order to receive eBay payments) and therefore you would have a 'debit' card which also doubles as a Master Card or Visa, so why not use that?

I don't have a credit card and don't need one.

I have my account set to use my checking account to cover refunds.

Want to wish everyone a Safe and Happy Independence Day.

The buyer is a clown!  I mailed it on Dec. 28.  By Jan. 4 he is already on me asking, "DID YOU EVEN MAIL IT????"

Seriously - if I bought something on or before Dec 28, and there was no tracking added by Jan 4, of course I'd ask if you even shipped it.

Regardless, your lack of available funds isn't important to the buyer - he wants a refund for a lost/severely delayed/never sent item.

No, I don't think that this event will be the nail in your selling coffin.  How many times have you quit, only to be back in a matter of days? 🙂

Love how comments here always blame the seller.  The buyer started being disrespectful only 6 days after I mailed the item & has only accused me of trying to steal from him since then.  IF I bother selling again on eBay, it will only be if I feel certain I can get a quick sale or top dollar for an item.  The less I deal with eBay members (like the 2 previous ones who left me negatives), the better off I will be.

eBay has a system that works well for many sellers. But that system is very clearly designed for sellers who use tracking and who have a backup funding source.

Buyers on eBay have been conditioned to expect a tracking number so they can see the progress  of their packages, and they expect that when a seller offers to refund it will be done so promptly.

You seem to have repeated issues on eBay that stem from not having tracking available to reassure buyers, and from not being able to refund in a timely manner. That does not make eBay bad, it just suggests that it is a not a good fit for your business model. Adapting their $20 billion business to your needs probably does not appeal to them.

@lacemaker3

Thank you! I had no idea. Well, heck, @sakic92710. So you're POSITIVE that you don't want to get a CC?

Re: Negative feedback

If there is a will, there is a way. You can get CC's through credit karma or Capital One in Canada. It's quick and easy.  I am sure that you can find ways to prove income. 1099's, ebay statements (payouts), your tax returns, etc. You can also apply for secured CC's if you have bad or no credit history.

If you feel that your position is correct on the tracking and refund, contact ebay for business on Facebook, Insta or Twitter. See what they have to say. If what you say is right about the first fb, using ebay labels or uploading the tracking manually, the customer would have received a notice from ebay, it is unwarranted. I don't think that you can do much about the newer one, but it doesn't hurt to try.

Re: Negative feedback

When I want to initiate the refund, I cannot use pending funds & my bank account but when eBay steps in to refund, they can.  Complete nonsense!  There was no reason for eBay to get involved.  I would refund.  Just make it possible for sellers to use THEIR funds to do so!

The other negative had tracking.  I provided it to eBay & the buyer.  Refunded on a Thurs.  Received the item on Monday.  eBay just shrugs their shoulders.  Credit card companies want silly little thing like proof of income.  Showing them I sell online doesn't mean squat to them.

You are actually TOTALLY right about that... There is a possibility (if you can manage) to get a secured credit card to build credit, but getting a card from a bank is next to impossible without regular income on a T4 (Canadian version of a W2 I think it is...)

I had the same issue with my bank when I applied for a mortgage. My mortgage was HALF the cost of renting, yet they're telling me I can't afford it, and every source of income I had "didn't count" because it was self-employment earnings of some kind.

I see ads for Capital One on YouTube all the time when I watch videos, might be something to look into. That will at least resolve that problem for you.

I have CCs, but don't use them as a back-up here. Mine is the debit card attached to my bank account. You got one?

OP is Canadian, they don't put credit card privileges on debit cards generally speaking. My Mastercard/Debit card is with a US bank.

Those don't exist in Canada. OP is in Canada.
