Negative feedback

I was left negative feedback - after refunding a purchase/not shipping it because I found stains on the item.  DIdn't want an angry buyer.  Despite that, she left negative feedback.  To attempt to "please" her, I just sent her the item.  Free of charge.  Despite that, the negative feedback remains and I am not allowed to leave negative feedback for her.  She has failed to respond to any of my attempts to reach out and fix the situation.  I don't understand why there is what appears to be an anti-seller bias in some of ebay's practices.  It doesn't seem right that after YEARS of positive feedback, one negative comment can bring my overall percentage of feedback down so low.

DEF..

Even  really  OLD  topics  are appearing  right  at the top  of  the Boards we  click on.   And  the     Start  dates  on   them are hard  to    read  with   the too-light a font that  Lithium  uses.

This  is  all  Lithium's fault  that  old  topics keep  being    re-started  by mistake.  Smiley Mad

Re: Negative feedback

Mistakes happen.  And you have simply dealt with a miserable buyer; one of those buyers who will never understand or don't care about an honest mistake.  You did everything right; you let her know about the stain and refunded her promptly, you sent her the item anyway for free, and yet you still have someone who just doesn't want to be nice about it or won't respond to you.  If I was the buyer, I would say, Oh, sorry there's a stain, so glad you found it" and that would be it.  I would leave it up to the seller if they wanted to send it to me or not. In fact, now that I think about it, last year I went to purchase a mercury glass vase; I purchased it but the seller let me know there was a small crack and he wasn't going to send it. I was happy about it as I didn't want to receive it that way, and take the risk of the crack getting larger. No big deal; there were others for me to look at or purchase.

As a seller, last year I sold a dress which was purchased by a buyer within two weeks of listing it.  When I went to ship it, I saw there was a small tear in the back. Even with all my photos and closeups, I just didn't see the tear.  I let the buyer know and promptly refunded her, and she was totally understanding.  So, overall, there are people who appreciate your being honest and working with you, and there are not.  I would say there is no need to try and "fix" anything with this woman, and as for the negative feedback it should absolutely be removed.  Good luck!!

Re: Negative feedback

I had a buyer leave me negative feedback before I even mailed the boots she bought. She said they weren't the same boots as advertised, they were scuffed messed up etc...etc. then she realized that the negative feedback was meant for another seller and not me (she had ordered a few pair of boots) and we communicated and I felt so badly for her getting bad boots from another seller that I sent her mine for free....she tried to remove the negative comment about me but was unable. I tried to reply but the website sent my reply before I was finished. Very frustrating. I hate Having negative feedback when it's not deserved.

Re: Negative feedback

I disagree. Negative feedback should be reserved for when the seller has deceitful or malicious intent and the buyer is harmed. Not just because the buyer is unhappy with the item or transaction. And when we had a system of fairness when sellers could leave fb it trained buyers to use the fb system correctly. The buyer was not harmed at all.

It it obvious that this seller had good faith. As a buyer I would have left positive fb stating "Had probs but seller resolved", As for trying to charge shipping, this too has happened to me when i put in my description that it was free shppng, intended it to be free shipping, but mistakenly forgot to select that option in the listing, and so eBay sent an invoice with the shipping charge.

I would buy from this seller, but as a seller i would want to be warned about this BUYER who was impossible to please.

Re: Negative feedback

"The buyer has the right to leave a negative because she was inconvenienced."

If negative fb is left for every minor inconvenience the system will become meaningless and then ignored. The reason fb is so important in eBay is bc buyers use it wisely not frivolously.

Negative feedback for a seller in eBay should be reserve for the most egregious betrayals, not good faith minor mistakes, probs, or inconveniences.

As a buyer on eBay I receive broken merchandise, items not as described, cancelled transactions or delayed shipping all the time. The only time i leave negative fb is because there was a real substantial lost to me and other buyers should be warned. Not bc i didn't like the exact way the transaction went down or i was inconvenienced. If the seller responds and attempts to correct the problem i would leave honest but "positive" fb: "Had some problems but seller resolved". If the seller does not respond or does not correct and i suffer a real lost then other buyers should be warned and i would use the negative fb. This keeps integrity in the fb system. Sellers don't have to be perfect just honest and willing to correct mistakes.

With a now fb rating of 97%, This seller has truly been harmed because I, and many others, would never purchase anything from someone with fb below 98% nor would i take the time to read all their comments.

In my opinion eBay should step in to correct because the seller has obviously shown good faith and is being harmed unjustly by this negative fb. You don't have to be perfect to sell on eBay as your comment suggests, but you have to be willing to quickly resolve issues in good faith and this seller was. The negative fb is undeserved.

What did you buyer do to warrant YOU leaving negative feedback, even if you could? This is the EXACT reason sellers can no longer leave negative feedback, because the neg you leave would be retaliatory and NOT based on something the buyer did wrong.

Shame on you.

Re: Negative feedback

Same thing for me.  Buyer did not pay and just said "I don't want this no more".  Now, my feedback is an all time low.  Very unfair.

Re: Negative feedback

This was to be my post. Mine exactly-customers are allowed to leave negative feedback without trying to resolve a problem. I immediately refunded. He claimed to have discarded it but did not. I asked him to return it, he refused. He claims DOA and there is no proof of that. On top of everything else, the Customer Service rep spoke marginal English and refused to let me speak to a supervisor. It seems EBAY goes out of its way to alienate its sellers. In my case, the buyer has stolen a watch-quite simply-perhaps filing criminal charges would be a wake up call.

Re: Negative feedback

I have had a charge back scam done to me to the tune of $425 and you can not leave feedback for that so other selllers know not to sell to him, and another neg left for me because the buyer did not read in my shipping terms i do not ship to his local he got a full refund within 24 hours and left neg any way, I agree feedback needs to be fair for all not biased agisnt the sellers at one time there was more sellers scaming buyers but not the tide has turned and sellers are on thin ice.

Aren't there auto blocks for HI and AK? I know many people block them for no good reason.
