Negative feedback after declined return

I'm curious. If a buyer files a return request well after your 30 day window, and you decline it within ebay, is the buyer able to leave you a negative feedback afterwards? It's not like ebay closed the request out in your favor or anything.

Sure, and you just explained why they can.

That was just a guess but I can't say that with confidence because I never tested it. Or rather I've never been in that situation (knock on wood).

Re: Negative feedback after declined return

eBay's not always good at blocking feedback even when they're supposed to, but in this case, they're not supposed to.

IMO, that loophole needs to be closed.

Re: Negative feedback after declined return

Buyers have the option to leave feedback up to 30 days after they purchase date.

I stand corrected. My appologies.

After 30 days, you do not have to take a return on ebay and consequently it should be too late for the buyer to leave feedback on ebay.

The buyer has 60 days from the date of purchase to leave feedback so I don’t think this is a loophole. Declining a return is simply declining a return. Buyer shouldn’t lose the right to leave feedback when a return is declined even if it’s after the return period/MBG. The only time feedback is blocked is when the seller wins the case. So there’s no loophole IMO.

Should ebay block them? Well, that depends on the sitution. But it is quite disengenous to allow a buyer to leave a negative feedback, because they were rightfully denied a return, after the return period ended. Just as if a buyer opens a case, and loses, they can not leave a negative feedback. This "should" be no different. They lost the return case. They "should" not be allowed to leave retalitory feedback. Which we all know, that's what that would be.

Re: Negative feedback after declined return

IMO there is a big difference between declining a return and a return timing out.

Say you have a coupon to a restaurant.  And for some reason they just decline it.

Or say that restauant has a coupon that expires on March 31, but you want to use it on April 2nd.

Is it fair to leave a negative in the second case.

Same on ebay.  Returns time out after 30 days.  So if you wait 35 days you should not be able to leave a negative that the seller would not accept a return.

We will have to agree to disagree. I don’t think a buyer should lose the right to leave feedback simply because they requested a return after the MBG expired and it was denied. I’m also not saying the seller deserves retaliatory feedback. I just don’t support a policy in which a denied return revoked the privilege of leaving feedback 🙂

And 60 days would be correct.
