We have spent days trying to dry out product that was affected.  It is clear whether our insurance carrier or theirs, they value inventory at what you paid for it....not what I know we can sell it for.

This picture is representative of many of the items.  They are still Factory Sealed - but warped on the back.  You can see on this doll, not only is the back warped, but the back cardboard is pulling apart from being wet.

What is the best rating I can use when listing this?

Can we use "New/Other" or does everything have to be "used"?  I see lots listed that says New/Other - damaged box, damaged packaging, etc.

Any advice appreciated.  I have quite a few to get thru.  Thx

I'm no doll expert, but speaking in general terms about a collectible, it's technically unopened but not in original condition either, so I would categorize it as New/Other, and add a crystal-clear explanation (along with the photos) for the buyer to see.

I also wouldn't sell them in damp condition. Dry them out thoroughly before doing anything else. Otherwise you'll be fielding complaints about mustiness or even mold.

I don't know anything about that category.  If it were me I would just put it as used if in doubt.  Better to cover your butt than deal with an unreasonable customer and get punished by eBay in the process.

Are these collectable dolls?

Or dolls that will be bought to be played with?

If the damage is really bad & may contain mold/mildew you could unbox them and sell as "new without box"

New other with damaged box works too-

They're no longer wet - there is no mold or mildew.  This one happens to be a collectible Winx Club doll that is discontinued.

I would prefer to not open the packaging and sell the items as "loose" as there are very few of these New/Sealed.  We have 11 of this doll unaffected - 4 that are affected - this being one of the worst - it was on the bottom in a tub that had about 2 in of water in the bottom.

These have been laid out to dry after being wiped down and placed in front of these huge fans they brought us - and then outside all day yesterday and today, rotated back to front/front to back.  They feel dry.  They are warped for certain.  They do not have an odor.  They just look, well....warped.

If you are a true collector, you would pass, I would think - due to the packaging?  Thinking we would discount for the carpy packaging and note in description we already discounted?  Just peeps who buy from their phones.....I don't think they ever really see the description?

Ok that makes a difference..

As a true collector, if there were not many available and perhaps you price it a little under what "pristine" is priced, I would buy it.

There will be some that wont but with collecting, getting an item you desire, even if the box is a lil warped is always better than not getting a piece you need for your collection.

Besides it's the front window that is most important- to view the doll.

I say go for it- New other, non-pristine, warped box backing.

Agree - being a collector myself (books and old newspapers), sometimes something is out of reach of my pocketbook, but then a not-pristine or slightly damaged example will come on the market in more my price range and I'm happy to get it.  And yeah, the flaw is not visible from the front.

The top and bottom is not warped - just the back.  If I just took a front pix (won't do that) you would never know.

A little concerned that someone won't read the description - I think with New/other, there is a box to put info in - using Damaged Box in the title would work great, but eat a lot of title characters I would hate to give up.  We sold this same doll recently for $145/free ship.  Was thinking $85-90 with calculated shipping?

Katz isn't there a sub title for condition when the item is listed as new other?

I can't recall for certain but I thought there was.

When I had the bag with smoke issue I put *See Note* in the title, you could then add the note to the description if there's no sub title for condition.

I used red font but I wanted to be certain they saw it.

ETA I checked and have a sub title for condition but that's a leather jacket so clothing. I imagine it's the same for collectables.

Describe it in the title and use the item specifics to cover the searchability side of things.

it would be new - damaged - but - ebay doesn't have selection to describe that in their dropdown, when you select used or other a box will appear to explain the condition further (it shows at top of listing under the item title), so you would have to fully state in the condition box that item is new but had water damage - assuming it's the packaging only damaged then state that - and then repeat it fully - clearly - in bold red text in description.

The problem here is your going have different "grades" of damage, some will be worse then others obviously. If your insurance is coving the cost of what paid for the items then ideally you can list then for few dollars just to make some extra and get out. Obvious they will not get the value they once could have being Mint but sure they will still have a value and maybe sell if "the price is right"

The great truth is there isn't one

What about putting just the damaged ones up for auction with a 10 day or so  with a staring price like lets just say $75.00 give or take some.

I recommend opening the dolls and selling them loose.  There could be 'surprises' inside affecting the dolls.   Winx Club is an Italian cartoon and though some of the dolls are collectible they are far more likely to be bought and sold as toys for children to play with.

Water damage is the worst. This is what I would do Katz.

I would remove the doll, if water destroyed the back of box, it seeped in to your doll somewhere.

Don't put damaged in your title as no collector would enter that word. I would put **box issue** then in the description I would describe what transpired.

Your focus on selling this doll is no longer on the collector but rather a play doll for a child.

Photo the doll beside the damaged box. I did look at some barbies that had destroyed boxes and sellers removed the doll but did include box.

Be sure the price reflects a play doll now and not a retired MIB toy. I would seriously consider around $20-25 would be fair. And have the insurance claim at $100 each for the 4 damaged dolls. Good luck dear.
