NEW STORE FORMAT

Unwelcomed surprise.  The ability to search for newly listed is gone.  Categories are gone from the side to a drop down menu.  Is this just a test on a select few or are all stores downgraded?

Re: NEW STORE FORMAT

@toysaver  I've been playing around with the new store format.  @my-cottage-books-and-antiques  is right - if you click the See All all the way at the bottom of the page, the categories shoe on the left side again. It's weird that they did it that way - buyer won't know they need to click that at the bottom. The categories should be visible on the first page.

They do have some new features and layouts. I tried the Remove Background on photos, hoping it would get rid of shadows on some of my listings, but it didn't. I'm still trying it out. They do have a link asking what you think.

@nuclearomenNo, it doesn't replace your store banner. I put one up (poor quality photo, I was just testing things) You can see where it is positioned if you look at my store.

yeah...ebay removed the view listings when click on user on community, in order to find someone have to go to your ebay profile or main page and search users...not exactly ideal.

Re: NEW STORE FORMAT

Oh, believe me I replied and gave them a piece of my demented mind multiple times.  They did add a search feature, it was not there yesterday morning.  Still Im old and change is hard but I have enough blubber I can bend...

It was changing progressively in real time last night.  I think it's the reason so many glitches happened with promotions I was trying to run.  They wouldn't time out despite saying they were.  So I deleted a bunch of listings and relisted.  The real test is how will a customer see this. Just tested it on an iphone and no sorting really and it prompts the customer to give a thumb's up or down at the bottom.  Competition can attack you now?  Suppose a seller has 10M items?  are customers really going to scroll until they get carpal tunnel?  here's a clue ebay,  many customers have no idea what they're looking for.  They need some help.  Now you've given them a blindfold, told them to remove their shoes and you through 10M thumbtacks on the floor.

@skeletonstore the thumbs up or down is to provide feedback to eBay about the new experience not for competition to rate/attack you.

i gave thumbs down and some reasons why... not that they will take any consideration to it but whatever.

Personally, I love that. It looks very sleek and professional-- like an actual online store, plus it allows you to highlight things that you want to bring buyers' attention to. I've never bothered messing around with a store banner before but now I might actually try because that looks good.

Re: NEW STORE FORMAT

Everything looks good on mine, too - the banner transferred over, it's a clean layout, "Shop by Category" right up at the top, the drop down is easy to select and up pops sorted listings in a nice gallery view.  So far nothing heinous.

Re: NEW STORE FORMAT

Newly listed, etc., drop-down is right there on my store layout.

Re: NEW STORE FORMAT

Looks like they added to the Rollout.....they finally added the "store" tab to the top line of Seller Hub....should make it easier to navigate to all things store related.

Re: NEW STORE FORMAT

I think that leaves two things undone from the Fall Update's list: I still don't see the newsletter sign up button on my Store's About page, and marketing banners seem limited to links to a category or a listing, no links to "sales or promotions" as promised. I really hope they add that last one ASAP.

Also, of course, they need to announce that this stuff is live, and they need a tutorial (including how to revise and update existing listings with new categories).

Re: NEW STORE FORMAT

I agree 100%.

eBay put the stores back to what they were and roll this garbage out in February, after our BIGGEST SELLING TIME OF THE YEAR!!!!

Whoever at eBay thought this was a good idea, needs to back to Business 101!

PS: The new store format also broke all my "In-Listing Links"

When somebody was looking at a Basketball related listing, I gave them a quick link to see all my Basketball related items, in my Store. All those links broke and the customer is taken to my Store, but with no search criteria.

I think the sellers need to start a petition, asking eBay to put the store format back until after the Holidays.

Re: NEW STORE FORMAT

All stores appear to have switched to the new format. You can still find your search categories. However, it will take at least two extra steps to find search categories in your genre. I found mine by first selecting a category in the my categories drop down. Then, I typed a search word (e.g. "Team Name" in my genre) in the search box and then the search categories along the side opened up. It actually looks pretty good. However, getting there is the big hurdle. I hope that helps!!!

Re: NEW STORE FORMAT

@imapaqrat  I'm trying to understand the broken links: Your basketball example, did the link take the buyer to a basketball category page?  Or were these customized links of some sort? (As you can guess, I'm not real tech savvy)

Re: NEW STORE FORMAT

It takes the person to my default store, but displays all 2,451 items; sorted by Best Match, but nothing to do with Basketball.  I have 248 Basketball items which is what used to be displayed until this new mess of a store format was pushed out.

https://www.ebay.com/str/imapaqrat?_bkw=basketball {This is the link that used to work fine}

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_dmd=2&_ssn=imapaqrat&store_cat=0&store_name=imapaqrat&_oac=1&_nkw=b... {This is the new link structure for Basketball}

Why eBay?  WHY??
