THANK YOU EVERYONE. I was having a moment feeling bad. Thanks for pointing out some things I hadn't thought of. I appreciate the answers!!!!! HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND.
So Sad.
This month received my first neutral from someone who couldn't read a listing and just a few moments ago I just received my first negative. It was a long run. Didn't ask for a refund (yet).
I looked at the photo the buyer provided and cannot believe what could have happened to break solid cufflinks.
Has anyone ever had two cufflinks break like this? I feel like he just broke them to be a jerk.
If anyone has a good professional response for me that includes something to help other sellers while not breaking the rules while maintaining professionalism I would appreciate it.

For the Negative, just keep moving forward and provide good products and service.
Been there and just let it ride out
Sometimes it can be removed but mostly you will be told it is just the buyers opinion.
Did the buyer threaten you with negative feedback demanding anything?

I got my first neg not long ago. You can review how I worded it. They still have never reached out, or asked for a refund since it. *shrug I worded it so that its apparent to others that they needed to do so to get resolved. But yeah, sometimes people just neg and move on and don't bother, especially on a cheap item.
But your reply and how you reply is more important than the neg.
Not much you can do if the buyer isn't willing to put forth the effort beyond a complaint.

Nope, as to eBay it is the buyers experience
Like I stated in my post, the OP should keep moving forward and let the NEG drop off

No the buyer didn't do anything but leave the feedback. Never contacted me.
But when I look at the photo it looks like he pried them apart (not that it matters).
I doubt it could be removed anyway. It sounds like a buyer's experience.
I want to respond as it looks like he leaves more negs than the usual buyer.
I may just leave it alone. Wondered what others thought.
Thank you!

@coastaltechsolution My mistake, I thought I was replying to the op!! *facepalm

Thanks.
I appreciate your advice.
I know it won't get removed.
Just hoped to never have it happen.

Shouldnt hurt your selling career at all. I would hold off on a response until you see if he opens a case. Then if you wish, you can respond you refunded him.

Thank you for the proper order....I totally would have screwed that up.
Have a good weekend bonjourami!

Looks to me that it could easily break in that manner. The break is at the weakest part of the cufflink.
I have seen that with lose cufflinks in my drawer. (It must be decades since I last wore cufflinks).
There are people who will leave a negative FB because it is too much trouble to deal with returning the broken product at the price they paid.
My history is getting negative FB when I could not have earned it and getting a pass when I should have gotten a negative.
It is not the end of the world or selling on Ebay, so it will be gone in 12 months, and buried sooner.

Thanks tobaccocardyahoo. I have never had any cufflink break let alone two break after shipping.
I guess it could happen. My pictures just looked so nice (lol). And when I wrapped them found no problems.
But I have read these things before happen (broken items) to the best of us and it could of happened of course.
(My evil side says he took pliers to them).
Have a good weekend!

Were they shipped in a box?
If not, they could have been damaged in shipping.

After about 17 yrs of selling I got a return request and having done that they gave me a negative. so it does happen to the best of us.....

My dad had a saying he used often for one of us kids when we destroyed something that went something like they could break an anvil. So who knows what happened, but at least with ebay sorting as most relevant, it is not showing on the first page unless I click on it or change my sorting criteria.
I want to say, though, your listing photos are amazing!

Now this is a very important note. If you review the feedback this buyer leaves for others and see they often do this to sellers, that is called Feedback abuse and is a breach of the feedback rules.
I would suggest, reviewing this buyer's feedback left for others closely. Do you see any similar statements for other sellers, like they made for you in a negative comment. Make yourself some notes. Study it closely.
The first report the buyer here, but not only this link. This is just the first step.
https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/resolving-buyer-issues/reporting-issue-buyer?id=4084
Step two, report the feedback as abuse of the feedback system for reasons you discovered on the buyer's feedback left for others.
Go to the Seller Help page. Towards the bottom of the screen you will see a place to click on to submit the feedback for removal.
https://www.ebay.com/sellerhelp/feedback?id=5566
Now just wait a bit until you get a response back about removing the feedback. It is highly likely you will be denied.
Once you have that, now is time to talk with Ebay. I typically advise sellers to go to Ebay on Facebook to voice the complaint and ask the FB be removed due to feedback abuse. Tell them of the evidence you found.
This can sometimes result in the removal of the feedback. Not always, but it is certainly worth the chance to get it removed. Please come back and tell us how it went for you.

On each Ebay page there is a link to contact Customer Service at the top of the page and again at the bottom of the page.
I would suggest that you contact Ebay for Business on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter for the better trained CSRs.
Here are your options for contacting Ebay Customer Service. Please be aware that for social media CS, you send them a Private Message and briefly explain what your problem or issue is. Feel free to leave your Name, address, phone number and/or your email address in this message. It is private and secure and it may help to speed up the response for you.
https://twitter.com/askebay
https://www.facebook.com/ebay
https://www.instagram.com/ebayforsellers/
Your options will be on the left. If you use the link below you can only get to the Automated Assistant or Chat box type AGENT in the box and hit enter. You will then get more options. Not all options are available 24/7. It will depend on staffing available. So sometimes you can request a call back and sometimes you can't. Sometimes you have the Chat option available and other times it won't me. If it is important to you to use one of those options, just try back later.
If you use a cell phone or other mobile device, you may need to turn off your Spam filter so that Ebay can call you.
If you are a seller outside of the US or Canada, you will need to use the Chat Option.
