Gents, this is the second thread with this new 'warning'.  Could either of you explain it, please?  It is rather alarming.  /understatement

And the threads are multiplying. Seems to me that even if eBay were insane enough to make this kind of change, they'd give advance warning.

This site is falling apart. They need to re-install a version from last summer, and then keep their programmers away from it.

More like a version from 2003 pre Cassini and then keep programmers away from it.

If I understand my friends rambling this morning he uses the 50 for free listings ebay has been auto inserting BO in the listings he gets lowball offers which he refuses and has been getting charged a listing fee on the items he refused the offers on. A call to CS and he was told he had a chance to sell the item and refused and all refused offers will charged a listing fee....

None of that is correct. You’ve misread the entire thread. Try again.

Since Ebay does everything on the cheap - cheapest it possibly can, I doubt that theres is any version of the program in existence that does not have the most recent changes on it as they have always updated the changes to the live version for sellers to Beta Test for them, again saving more money for the CEO to pocket in his annual bonus.

Re: Must use Make Offer Option !

I have not seen the thread yet myself but have heard elsewhere that when the sellers decline a lowball offer on these listings that Ebay is then charging them $.35 for the listing.  I guess Ebay has to make some money somehow to manage to show growth.

Based on the price I am betting this is being done to the 50 free listings per month that evidently you list the way Ebay wants and accept any price that is offered or Ebay is going to charge you.  Store owners had better look at their available listings before making any changes as they may lose listings now for this new policy or glitch which ever it is as you sure cannot count on anything that CS tells you anymore.

Re: Must use Make Offer Option !

I will say this, This is my main SELLING account, I also have a 50 free store which is my MAIN BUYING account. I fill up the free store though with goods, I have not seen this yet nor have I had a best offer inserted UNKNOWINGLY on my listings in that store. (3 years plus running) Why is this? Is it They have not gotten around to me yet OR because my accounts are linked and I by no means am a "CASUAL SELLER"? If this NEW PAY or ELSE thing shows up on that account, I will shut it down and ALL MY BUYING. As it is I have spent a whopping total of $1.28 this month on my buying account (ebay bucks plus $1.28 extra) as opposed to well over $300 last month because sales are so slow and are dripping in. That BEST OFFER OR PAY Shakedown will end my buying!

Re: Must use Make Offer Option !

Your topic is misleading. You DO NOT have to make "best offer" option. What it is saying is if you do not make a best offer option, Ebay will not give you a freebie handout and make you pay to list. Maybe it will eliminate all the money grabbers who think they can list over-priced stuff that will never sell anyway. Or at least they will have to pay an insertion fee and not get a freebie.

Has anybody from eBay confirmed that is what the message means?

Re: Must use Make Offer Option !

Thanks, but that screenshot says that a fee may be charged not that free listings are no longer free unless best offer is used.  That doesn’t really confirm that the system is changing, that this isn’t a test and/or in what circumstances the charge will be made.  In other words, as far as I can tell, we don’t really know for sure what is happening.  We can guess but it’s ridiculous that we have to guess!

I don’t see anything in the fee pages about it.

If the freebie handouts aren't doing what eBay wants them to, then eBay should scrap the plan as ineffective.

Re: Must use Make Offer Option !

Just raise all prices 2-3 times or more and let buyers make offers. I'm sure everybody will do it if this ridiculous 35c fee becomes obligatory.
