Just random thoughts on selling.
1.) eBay will eventually give you compensation for the additional fees you are paying for early automatic relisting. Unless you are persistent with CS and demand to get it back immediately, they will do it in the form of a credit to your seller account.
2.) This is a huge infusion of cash for them and in the best case for sellers is like an interest free short term loan to eBay. Many millions of $ of this will go unclaimed by sellers who simply give up and quit.
3.) Enough sellers will quit over this to drastically lower the overall number of listings on eBay. At that point, they will feel justified in raising fees for the remaining sellers to recoup the lost revenue.
4.) The sellers that feel ripped off and leave permanently will not pay for the fees that were stolen from them and it will create a huge tax write off for eBay of Monopoly money that never existed.
5.) Huge PR gain for eBay as they can say that the sellers caused this themselves by not being patient enough to allow eBay to fix the problem.
6.) A large enough cash infusion from sellers who do pay or lend to impress all but the most hardened investor and drive up stock prices. Might even be enough to get through nicely until the MP money tree starts producing.

If you are expecting perfection, you are on the wrong site. You will be forever disappointed. Whenever humans are involved, mistakes may happen. We are defined by how we react and move forward after the error, not the error itself.
I've been here a long time. This issue was all over the threads starting yesterday. Today it is fixed and Ebay is identifying and refunding affected members. While for some that may not be fast enough, I personally think it is a very good response time. But that is merely my opinion.
Are you sure it's fixed? And won't happen again?
Some are posting they're still experiencing a problem.
Also, those with stores are being told they won't get improperly used free listings credited back.
My opinion is that this issue is far from being resolved, and I don't believe every Customer will be made "whole."
Some are posting they just noticed the problem. There is a difference.
Your other questions are better directed at Tyler as he is the one that announce the problem is fixed. If you need him to prove that to you or otherwise reassure you in some way, he would be the person to ask.

Are you sure? Or just speculating? Yesterday I only had 1 item that would be relisting before the end of the day. Being the 1st of the month, I knew I had a fresh batch of 100 listings (I checked). When I checked this morning, I had a balance of 98. So I looked up the Item IDs of the 2 noted as relisted, one was the one I expected to relist, the other is one which is scheduled to relist tomorrow, Aug 3rd, at 7:40 pm... about a 36 hour difference!
It is what Tyler posted a few times on different threads to include this one. If you take issue with that, you may want to ask Tyler for an explanation that better serves your needs.

Occam's razor simply states that of any given set of explanations for an event occurring, the simplest one is most likely the correct one. Occam's razor makes no absolute assertions. It does not claim that the simplest answer is always correct.
But if Occam's razor collides with Hobson's Choice, then we can just take it or leave it.

The idea that eBay's most recent failure will cause a meaningful reduction in sellers and listings has been floated on this board every week or two for over a decade. None of those past predictions came true, and I see no reason that your prediction will be different.
Been around since 1998, so have the claims that eBay is losing sellers.
I suspect the majority of sellers that leave will be those who refuse to pay for listing fees, choking up the Search with unsaleable items.
Much as we detest "Chinese" sellers and dropshippers of cheap garbage, they make sales and pay fees on those sales.
If an eBay seller is not selling and not paying fees, why should eBay clutter up their site and pay for browser space for them?
I am old and grouchy.
I watched eBay sprout from a seed ... I lived and worked in San Jose, CA.
I've been on the site since 2010 and always thought eBay would show growth. I have a corporate background, with a great deal of experience in Business and Engineering.
In 2019 everything changed here, not just the typical things that are transitional. eBay upset me enough to stop buying, and I was just about to set-up a seller's account, but didn't.
From your perspective as a seller, this should be concerning to you. Even more concerning, because I used to purchase a lot of stamps from the site.
The other thing that changes the equation now are the many competitors that are sprouting up from seeds, but with much faster growth due to our fast paced social media environment.

Some that previously posted are posting again, that they are still seeing a problem.
If I need any of my specific questions answered by anyone, I can direct them to that person without being directed by you.
eBay should be reassuring every seller here that they will be made "whole" and I've yet to see that (i.e. fee credits and free listing credits). It's also not clear if the problem is fixed, so we'll see in the next few days.

Most accurate opinion so far!
I sadly quit in the Spring of 2019, after 9 years buying.
Together we have 19 years of Selling & Buying ... when will eBay start to see what they are doing?

Glad I didn't try to sell here this year (as I was planning to) ... 99% total disappointment doesn't sound like fun.

*****************GENERAL REPLY************************
I had originally thought that none of my accounts were affected by the GTC issue, but I was mistaken. One was. it was for 5 listings that I was double charged for with the renewal date policy change issue.
I called Ebay to see what the resolution to this might be. After he researched to double check what I thought I was seeing he placed a note on my account regarding the double charge. If as the month goes on and I use up all my free allotment of listings, Ebay will issue me a credit for up to 5 listing fees as they are incurred.
For me that works just fine.

Glad you only had 5 listings affected.
Many sellers, and especially high-volume sellers, will probably have more than 5 listings impacted by this. When you start to do the math x millions of sellers, this is a lot of money that eBay improperly took from everyone.
Every eBay Customer should expect to receive a Full Refund of all ill-gotten Fees and all ill-gotten Free Listings.

I`ve been wondering for a couple months now what exactly changed at eBay that they started killing the platform and replacing the US based sellers with Chinese ones. The CEO is the same, is there a new leader with a very progressive views? I found out (well, after I noticed the disaster with missing search, then forced GTC, etc, I checked who CEO was) that he is a Democrat. Is eBay testing socialism here (with the force/no real choice, outdated IT, etc)? It sure looks like it.
Do you have any insight why eBay became so radically progressive?

Socialism is actually a "community" regulated theory, where sellers would actually have more say.
Leaving politics out (as it's always a touchy subject), the changes I was referring to are numerous. Some process related, some system related, and a great deal related to a lack of focus or support for Customers.
I did once post: Make eBay Great Again
