Multiple Returns - Doesn't Fit

Maybe just more of a vent, but there is a genuine question. We've had 4 return requests for pre-owned clothing items over the past month or so, usually it might be 1 every 2-3 months. 3 claimed wrong size and one was it didn't fit with their current wardrobe. The latest said that the wrong tag was sewn on.  We put dimensions in our listings, especially for pre-owned. Personally I still don't know what my dims are, but if I ordered a piece of clothing that the seller listed the dims would assume that liability when I didn't use that information when I ordered it and just keep it.  Is there anything better we can do than just include the dims? We accept returns, but when the item is $15-20 and we have to pay return shipping is it even worth accepting a return? Or is there a way that the buyer pays return? I know if they claim INAD we do, but can't even challenge it since it's auto-approved.

Re: Multiple Returns - Doesn't Fit

I wouldn't turn of free returns, If you describe your items well enough and have the measurements in the photos, the 10% discount on fee's will far outweigh the amount of "doesn't fit" returns that you will  get. I get a return may once or twice every other week if that and I still make a profit when I sell it again. My return rate is 1.18% out of 1,360 transactions from June 20th - August 20th.

Re: Multiple Returns - Doesn't Fit

Must just be you because I barely have any returns and I sell quite a bit every week/month. I photo the chest and length & sleeve(long sleeve only) measurements and that's it. I get questions for other measurements but not often and I just tell them that we offer free returns if it doesn't fit. Sometimes they buy and sometimes they don't. When you get a return for "doesn't fit" and you offer free returns, you don't have to refund the original shipping cost, only the cost of the item.

Re: Multiple Returns - Doesn't Fit

I never sold a lot of clothing, maybe 300-400 over 20 years, and mostly concert t-shirts, sports jerseys, etc. but when I did, I always indicated exactly how the measurements were taken (example: armpit to armpit, length from front of collar to bottom hem, etc.), all measurements laid flat , and suggested the buyer compare those measurements to one of their own articles of clothing that fit well. With the garment laid flat, no need for a sewing tape, a regular measuring tape works fine. I never once had a return of clothing, for any reason.
