I'm just wondering how many here may have multiple posting IDs and am just wondering why?
I've had this ID forever. Though I know some people like to change theirs every so often - I've been made aware of many with 3,4,5 different postings IDs and I don't understand why that's necessary. To move up on the kudo's board? To show more support for a post that isn't too popular?
We actually have a much smaller community than I thought and now that I'm aware of all these posting IDs - I'll be more conscious of who's posting what. I was surprised at the multiple IDs some long term posters have.
If there is another reason people feel the need to have all these multiple ID's I'm just wondering what it is.

Are you by any chance double-clicking on the Quote button? That'll do it every time.Probably...especially as one click never actually brings the bleepy quote up in the first place?
Actually it works fine for me with 1 click but i notice that sometimes the quote is offscreen above the window. If you bang the quote button a 2nd time then that puts the same quote up there again and then the accumulated stack shows up more into the edit window.
I like quotes because they show context except for in the weakly chat where it seems like no one will trim ANYTHING. So you get these godawful 5-deep nested quotes that go on for screen after screen until you finally get to the new material at the end and all it says 'I agree!'
Trying to read all that on a smartphone screen is agony.
I have a problem sometimes when I see some people whose posts I normally enjoy reading, use the quote button but do not wait for the circle to stop spinning before they start their reply so ... their reply is inside the line with the person they are responding to instead of underneath it, as you see here. All it takes is 2 seconds to wait and then reply.

I have done that. Wondered if I should but hey -- when someone is right (IMO) they're right and when they're wrong (IMO) they're wrong.
That aside, I have only 2 eBay IDS. The one I sell with and this one I post with.
However, I accidentally posted here I think once with my selling ID because I didn't realize I had to sign out when I am on my selling ID just reading, and then sign back in when I come here to post.

That's only right, fair, and ethical, too. I try to not let personal feelings enter into it; I may not like someone's attitude or behavior (no offense to anyone!) but if they are helpful, they will get a helpful from me. It may even be someone who is fond of taking pot shots at me, putting me down, or calling me an ebay employee or shill, or even telling me to quit posting. I don't like manipulation.
I may not agree with you, but I am respectful when doing so, and I would hope we all strive for that.

Wow, that is awful. I cannot imagine someone would ever wish something like that. :(((
That is horrible! I've met some wonderful people through PMs, but have also been stalked, falsely accused, and lied to.

I say absolutely you should. Fair is fair, and if they're right, they're right.
Besides, it messes with their heads when you do that.

Replying in order, not to anyone in particular (too lazy to go back to Page 1).

tunica and I have disagreed on many things but I will back her up ^^^ when she says she recognizes helpful posts regardless of the identity of the poster.
To have multiple posting id's, don't you have to sign in and out to use each one? I would so mess that up.
I have days (like today, it's raining and I'm seriously procrastinating on packing for a trip tomorrow) when I post quite a bit and days when I start to post and then the red stop sign flashes in front of me, as in walk away, Sherry, just walk away. I'm with ersatz; I try to read/skim topics to see if some new glitch has been born and/or how does something work and learn general necessary information.
I would like to announce that today I became a Rock Star. That was a big goal and I achieved it ! (<----giant j/k font).

I have another ID I use to "admit to something bad" or to comment on or bring up a controversial subject. At least once I used it because the OP had a screw loose and I didn't want to use this selling/posting ID for fear of backlash. I probably use my alternate ID less than half a dozen times per year. So far this year I've used it once.
05-16-2018 03:15 PM
But sometimes you don't realize that a poster has a "screw loose" until it's too late and they got mad at you about something you already said.. That's why I don't post with my main selling ID.

Same here. I use my seller's id. I did not create an id for posting purposes only. Not trying to hide, even tho I read on some posts that posting id's are created bcuz some posters are afraid of retaliation if they use their seller id. Now THAT's some scary, low life and 'need to get a life' stuff.

Sherry congrats on the Rock Star! Tho I can never keep them straight on what one is higher on the list!
Enjoy you're trip and be safe! I know we're leaving Sat for Alabama and it's suppose to rain for the whole trip down.

I don't believe you.
I know I'm a straight talker and I've got a big mouth, but I'm not that bad--or am I ?
Why do you think I try to stay on your good side, LOL?
Seems you strike fear in the hearts of men and women everywhere.

OH!!!! the hugemanatee of it all.... I like those folk who go on self appointed exiles and then show back up 3 days later or the jumpers leaving ebay forever. The reality is no one is that important and in the end no one really cares...

It doesn't happen often, but it has been happening for a long time. Here's a "Why we have posting IDs" collection going back to 1999:

Bubble - let's get right to the point instead of skirting around things. Yes I was upset with the situation the other day and decided to bid the boards farewell for awhile. Other posters here asked me not to leave - I had no intention of posting again until I came back from vacation but I had a great day at the garage sales and thought no one should make me feel horrible on these boards.
We're adults and if some don't want to act like it - that's on them - so I started posting again. Not that I should have to explain myself.
