I have had issues selling on ebay that I'm sure some other sellers would agree, but this one has really made me upset!!
I had a listing removed because ebay says its in the wrong category. It was on the
auction with one day left and had several bidders.
So the item was a Louis Vuitton Eva handbag. It was missing the strap and needed a replacement strap. But nonetheless, its a handbag. Ebay says it should have been
categorized in the wallets or accessories category. After calling ebay and explaining this, they still say its miscategorized. What really upsets me is only one day left and it had several bids. If they truly think it was miscategorized, which it wasn't, could have they not removed it sooner?

I have never heard of this. A handbag missing the strap is not a wallet or accessory. But it is eBay's rules and their site. Often listings are removed after a couple days online. It is not unusual to remove a listing AFTER the auction is complete.

My wallet has a strap. It is called a wristlet. Their interpretation of the difference is odd.

I also have a wristlet (Coach) although at this moment I don't recall what category I may have purchased it from.
IMO, eBay's interpretation of her handbag is not just odd, it is wrong. A handbag is not a wallet or an accessory. Especially if they have a handbag category.
From the OP's post:

Perhaps they conferred with their 'authenticators' who weren't selling it?

I'd call them again on Tuesday morning after 10 PST and make sure you get a US rep - a handbag without a strap is a clutch bag - aka a handbag - not a wallet. If they still give you a problem - go to eBay's Facebook site - create a post and upload a pic of the bag and ask why the item was removed from the handbag category. They'll look into it for you.

The same thing happened to me today. I listed a 2002 American Hunter Magazine and they removed it.
I listed under: "sporting goods-hunting-vintage hunting-magazines"
They said it should be under: "sporting goods-hunting-vintage hunting-books & manuals"
I called because it made no sense to me. Listing title is "magazine" and "magazine" is in description.
It is NOT a book or a manual.
Rep said he didn't know why and it would have to be escalated to another department. I asked how long it would take for an answer and he said approx. 72 hours. We'll see if anyone contacts me.

In that category (magazines) do the other listings have paper things ?
Or things that could hold bullets?
