Half or more of my listings are $2-$4 and I’m getting creamed with the extra $0.30 transaction fee. Before managed payments came along, PayPal had a “micro transaction” option that lowered the transaction fee for listings like this. I contacted eBay and was told “too bad” in effect. Is this accurate, and what have any of you done to solve this problem?

I have never heard of PayPal having a less than .30 transaction fee.
That was there fee also.

Paypal had the micro-payments account option, which I think was 10 cents per transaction but a slightly higher percentage; for transactions up to about $10 it worked out much better for a seller, fee-wise. eBay does not offer anything similar under Managed Payments. "Too Bad" is exactly right. The fact is, low margin sellers are basically going to be screwed moving forward.

Half or more of your $2-$4 items show FREE SHIPPING add the 30 cent to your asking price or start charging for shipping. This should alleviate some of the pain.

eBay is all about making money for eBay.
Sorry, there are no fee discounts for United States sellers. Other countries are treated differently.

You cannot make any money selling such "low value" items. EBAY fees based on (purchase price + shipping costs + sales tax) plus 30 cent handling charge. Plus you have "listing fees" also. You should try to get you "sale price" up to at least $20 by selling items "as a lot".

Maybe is time for you to think about selling items at a higher price. In my case, I rather sell 1 $15-$20 item. Than to sell 4 items at $5 to make $20. It's just my humble opinion.

Right now, as said, MP doesn't have a micro payment option... Once they get everyone (in the world).....lol......into MP, I expect to see "extras".... they've mentioned being able to buy on ebay from our MP account, perhaps micro payments will make it in there also..........

- Increase your prices by 50 cents.
- Sell in lots/bundles.
- Charge separate shipping and use a combined shipping rate- $x for the first item and each additional item ships free. This will hopefully encourage multi-item purchases.
