Method to Automatically Switch Back To Classic eBay Label FLow

They !^%##$ switched me into the new eBay label flow. It sucks, as others have indicated.

My main gripe so far is that the page isn't printable which is a must for me - it is part of my order processing flow to have an archival PDF copy of the ready to purchase label with all the details visible. Also, the new label flow does not work at all in FF3.6.24 (blank page) and results in a "something went wrong" error in FF31, which forces me to use FF52 which I do not want to do.

(What little of it that will print is 2 pages of emptiness, and it looks like it will be 4 pages when I can get it all to print via Stylish CSS rules. Then another few hours to get that to fit on maybe 2 pages.)

So, I fired up HTTPFox, captured the load sequence, and whipped up a simple Redirector rule to automatically switch me back to the classic label page (it is probably the easiest Redirector rule I've created to date).

The Classic eBay label flow Redirector rule:

Example URL: https://gslblui.ebay.com/gslblui/new_label?transId=987654321&itemId=123456789012
Include Pattern: https://gslblui.ebay.com/gslblui/new_label?*
Exclude Pattern: https://gslblui.ebay.com/gslblui/back_to_classic*
Redirect To: https://gslblui.ebay.com/gslblui/back_to_classic?$1
Pattern Type: Wildcard
Unescape Matches: No

Install Redirector, enter that rule, and forget about the new label flow until the day eBay changes things or finally takes the classic label flow away.

Some threads/posts about the Redirector addon, which, it appears, can be used in Firefox, Chrome, Vivaldi, and Opera. Edge, Safari, and IE out of luck.

There is an alternative Redirector rule that could be used that shortcuts the path I chose. The rule above essentially mimics clicking the "Go back to classic label printing" link on the new label page, which results in an eBay internal redirect, finally arriving at the classic label page. The alternative method would dissect the URL from the "Print label" option found on My eBay Sold item page for an item, and re-construct a new URL directly to the classic label flow. Problem with that approach is that there can be numerous different paths/initial URLs to the new label flow (seller hub orders page, emails, etc), and that second approach would probably fail for many of them.

It was working for me 2 days ago. Ive been using it for months. I just dragged the redirector to my bookmarks. Every time I click" print shipping label " on ebay, the new page comes up so then I just "click" the redirector on my bookmarks and "poof" it changes into the old shipping label page. Its awesome. Thank you so much for doing this.

It hasnt been working the last 2 days so maybe something changed at ebay internally, but ill keep trying.

Same for me, it has been working for months for me and last couple days it gives me an error. I HATE the newer shipping screen.

@berserkerplanet

Hello there,

Thanks to your amazing computer skills, ever since I read your message thread on how to re-direct the new shipping label to the classic shipping label, your method has worked flawlessly after I finally figured out what you told us to do !

And it has saved me a ton of time and effort for the past few months.

Last night, I went to print a shipping label, and used the exact same re-direct bookmark thing when the new shipping label page opened .... but this time, it did not bring up the classic shipping label page.

I got a warning message in red telling me something like .... we know that we are having problems with shipping labels. Please try again in 3 hours !

So, since I could not wait 3 hours to print my shipping label, I then spent about a half hour trying to use the new shipping label, and I eventually got it to print, and print to the correct size that I needed for my 3 7/8" wide shipping box.

Any guess as to why your re-direct bookmark did not work last night ?

I am hoping that with your amazing computer skills, you can figure out what Ebay did to ruin your re-direct program, and hopefully you can figure out a new re-direct formula to get back to the classic shipping label again.

Thank you for your time and effort in sharing your first re-direct formula with us ..... it has save me a ton of time and effort !

Best wishes,

flipper

Re: Method to Automatically Switch Back To Classic eBay Label FLow

This stopped working for me today. It takes me now to the new label page. Perhaps someone knows how to get around this script? I HATE the new label page. I would even PAY not to have to use this new label page. It's that terrible. I know I can use PirateShip but it's not as easy in my opinion

I stopped printing labels on eBay months ago because they completely screwed it. Now I only print labels through Paypal, it's much easier and better organized.
