In the 2018 Summer Seller Update, we announced new changes to requirements for creating a markdown sale event that went into effect on June 25, 2018. We listened to your feedback and have made a change to these markdown sale requirements. Sellers can now add items to a markdown sale event even if the listing was previously in another sale event within the past 14 days as long as the listing price has not been changed.
As usual I don't understand ebay......... SO if you can add the item even if it's been on sale in the last 14 days with no price change.......doesn't that mean the 14 days is no longer applicable?

Let's not forget that the missing photo fiasco affected Good Til Cancelled listings. Has that issue been resolved, or are Good Til Cancelled listings still vulnerable to missing photos? I for one would be afraid to change over from 30 day lists to Good Til Cancelled until this is fixed. YMMV
@27flamingolane, the issue with images on Good Til Cancelled listings has been resolved, meaning no images will be removed going forward.

the issue with images on Good Til Cancelled listings has been resolved,
For info, Brian, people who lost the images are still waiting to hear if they can be recovered or if they have resubmit them.......those people don't consider the problem resolved.

so basically it will encourage people to never lower the price, but to just have a perpetual sale.
I know that with brick and mortar retail you had to offer an item at the regular price for a certain amount of time in order to not run afoul of laws.
If I read this right, a person could list an item for $100 and after the initial 14 day wait, it could be on "sale" for $10 for forever?

Thanks DH for addressing that the GTC pix "going backward" have not been fixed. Maybe you can suggest to Brian to do a Community notice that addresses that status and with their knowledge on how to fix. Although some posters have offered various fixes for sellers who have realized their pix do not show. Some sellers don't even know their previous GTCs have no pix except maybe the one Gallery photo.

@dhbookds, I've found that if a revision is submitted for a listing (not in the bulk tool but individually), even if no changes are made during the revision, that the main image will appear again. I don't have any information in regard to images beyond the first, but I'll be sure to update the Community if I hear more about that.

yes, the problem is in the "interior" pictures beyond gallery......... Some people have hundreds of listing missing all of those.........and some have thousands of listings to try to figure out which ones are missing the pictures. Trying to retake or find those pictures is going to be a real burden on them........

Like most sellers I relist my items as "sell similar" it is recognized as a new listing by the bots, will this be included in a sale or do I have to wait the 14 days ?

doesn't matter if you relist or sell similar, it's a new listing, with a new item number, so, yes, wait 14 days.

Well, Ebay has put the nail in the coffin for smaller sellers - regular folks who are trying to make ends meet for their families. I've followed Ebay's advice, numerous rule changes, and everything. Ebay tells us "offer returns and set sales for greater visibility" and I take their advice. Then they change everything - take away restocking fees, take away the ability to set sales. My sales have plummeted. I do 7-day listings with a very fair and competive price and mark down by increments if something doesn't move. We all know buyers tend to buy at the end of the listing time. Now I can't put items on sale. Manually lowering the price gives me no better standing in "best match" and my sales are the lowest they've ever been. I'm sure this isn't just me, and I know Ebay's not getting rich off me alone, but I'm not the only seller of my kind out there and I do believe that collectively we make up a large part of their profits. I've never marked up to mark down - I always start with a fair price. Ebay surely isn't a company that cares about families or gives support to those of us who pull ourselves up by our bootstraps and try to make money the good old fashioned way - by earning it! This Markdown manager "update" does nothing to help me and other small sellers. It's all just wrong.

All restocking fees did was force buyers to lie and file SNAD to avoid them.
And instead of small increments just list at the lowest price you are willing to take.

I understand they are out to safeguard the big sellers interest, but do eBay know that there phone reps are not heads up on the new changes yet?

Like this one -
Comparison Pricing
We want you to shop with more information, so many of our products include a comparison price. The comparison price represents a recent documented selling price of the same or similar product in full-price department stores or specialty stores. Where identical products are not available we may compare to similar products and styles. Prices charged for the compared to products may change over time, but our goal is to provide you with a useful comparison point of what you may have paid in a competitive store, so you can be sure you are getting a great bargain when you shop at xxx. Comparison references should be used for general information only.

I was told by a ebay rep that if I made my listings GTC [good till cancelled] the 14 day rule wasn't used...she was WRONG. NOTHING CAN STOP THE EBAY DICTATORSHIP FROM CONTROLLING YOUR STORE!
