I spend hours of my life measuring clothes and creating listings just to have the description buried in a tab that the buyer has to scroll down to even open.
I have to offer free returns in order to be top rated and receive the discount but the sheer amount of returns for fit I have had lately are making it not worth it. I am a single person who does this for a living I am not Amazon. I can’t even get mad at the buyer because of the way the app is laid out. The description is hard to get to. It should be the FIRST thing seen once the listing is clicks on!
I had a buyer yesterday leave me negative regarding the fit of her shirt even though she ADMITTED in messages that she did not read the description and she was just going by the brand size. I contacted eBay about removing this feedback and was denied
Please explain to me what else I could have possibly done! I listed the shirt with the tag size…I provided exact measurements in the listing for the shirt. I ALSO have free returns which I’m forced to offer and she chose to not take advantage of it
If you are making sellers offer free returns (especially for clothing) for the love of God make the description visible with the least amount of work and take care of good sellers when they get unwarranted feedback!!

Blame the mobile app. It is not the sellers friend.

I don't sell clothing but I absolutely agree that a listing description should be easy to find.
Ebay doesn't make it easy with the way they place ads.
I think clothing sellers are especially effected by this.
I think clothing sellers are very brave to sell clothes on line with the amount of returns that happen in that category.

Agree with the silly click-through for the description - eBay is obviously trying to emulate mass market catalogers - it's unnecessary and as you've experienced, it really causes trouble. In this environment it's just crap design.
But I'd advise getting rid of the free returns - you are NOT forced to offer them - make your own choices. People get seduced by this little discount but in a line like ours we pay for it out the back. IMHO, it is not worth being sacked with a high return rate and IMHO the boost isn't anything special.
Also, I've gotten neuts (and one neg) for the weirdest stuff. Dealing with the public takes strong nerves because, well, it's people. Just keep going. (I used to do this full-time, too, so I understand how hard it is).

My solution is to put my Description in a coloured box.
I do this by clicking on
->Description
-> Show All Options (on the right)
-> See More Options
->Show HTML code
Now my technodolt shows, because I made the coding template many years ago, and don't really know how to code.
But.
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0"><font rwr="1" style="font-family:Arial" size="4"><!-- Auction ad begins here --><center><table cellpadding="10" border="2"><tbody><tr><td bgcolor="#CCFFFF">
This makes a pale blue box
<font face="Arial,Helvetica"><center><b><font size="+5" color="red" face="Textile"><br><br>
The first words will appear in red.
That's your Description Title
</font><font face=Textile size=+3 color=blue><BR><BR>
These words will appear in blue.
That's your Description Sub-Title.
</font><font face=Textile size=+2 color=black><BR><BR>
These words - the bulk of my Description- Will appear in black.
Look at any of my listings to see what I mean.
You can change the background colour , but I've forgotten how.

Here is a thought... if it's something critical like dimensions, maybe include an image of the written dimensions. Like, after pics of the item, have an image that spells out the DIMs or any critical info you feel needs to be seen that isnt being seen.
I've done this for a couple listings that were more technical/critical like when I had a scrap gold lot I spelled out weights/purities in a pic for easy reference.
Buyers dont read descriptions but apparently they view pics, right?

I definitely here you!! The word "Description" isn't big enough or bold enough. Maybe changing the color of the word. Something to draw attention to it. People don't see it and some don't look for it.
When I do the measurements, I take a picture of it so they have that to look at. But there are other important information in the description that I put in there when necessary.
A lot of clothing stores only put the title in the description part so that might be one reason why they don't go there.
I don't offer free shipping or free returns. My store can't afford to have a fitting room.
Great suggestion. I hope someone listens.
