MC011 restriction

Can anyone help explain to me what is going on with my account. I've been a member of eBay since 1998 with 100 percent positive feedback. It's mostly from purchases and maybe about 50 from sales. I have recently needed some cash so decided to sell two of my watches and a pair of sneakers. The first watch sold and I shipped it with a label purchased through eBay. The following day the other watch listing was removed as was the listing for the pair of sneakers. I received a message about a mc011 restriction placed on my account and have not been able to get a return message after replying several times. The $1,300 I received for the watch is also being held up by eBay. Thank you for any help anyone can give.

Jason

Was your Managed Payments account in order, approved, verified, confirmed, etc.?

Re: MC011 restriction

Never heard of the MC011 restriction, so I did an internet search for it.  It's a serious restriction and can require documentation (that I certainly don't possess) to get resolved in your favor (i.e. invoices for the products listed on eBay).  If you do an internet search, there are quite a few Utoob videos about this specific topic.  I hope that you get this cleared up ASAP and please update this post as necessary.

Re: MC011 restriction

Ebay does not allow new sellers to come here and list (3) $1,500 items without proof of purchase. Sorry but too many thieves in the world.

Re: MC011 restriction

And not to be snarky but the items may have been reported as not being authentic.

Obviously they did allow the seller to list items worth that much.  If they don't want a new/returning seller to do that then there should be a block from listing until they receive the required paperwork.   I find the whole thing very confusing since some sellers complain they can't list more than a 3 items / $100 and others list much more immediately.

Yea, ebay hates new sellers by their logic.

The OP is not a "new" seller, they have been around since 1998 which means they were assigned a (not visible) selling limit 10 years ago when the limits started to be shown to new sign-ups. If they are like most sellers of that vintage their on file limit is probably well into 6 figures if not more.

Re: MC011 restriction

Your account is from 1998, but your selling activity is NEW therefore you are treated like a brand new seller. On top of that, you sold high value merchandise right out of the gate that is rife with fraudsters and fakes. Looks like eBay deemed you/your account a risk and banned you.

Re: MC011 restriction

OP clearly stated s/he had sold in the past, so s/he is not considered a "new" seller. S/he also implied, however, and his/her feedback would support the inference, that those sales were some time in the relatively distant past.

The eBay category, then, that would apply to the OP, would be an infrequent seller. The policy is the same, whether "new" or "infrequent."

  • New or infrequent sellers will experience transaction holds while learning best selling practices. This helps sellers become established and build a strong selling history on eBay. New sellers typically experience holds for up to 14 days, although sometimes it may be longer.

While I agree with you on the block I shudder to think what eBay may do trying to implement this. Their history with IT changes has been less than stellar.

Re: MC011 restriction

@slippinjimmy   Maybe they have been on Ebay for years, but they are still considered a NEW seller. Only sold one item in over a year and very few before that. Ebay doesn't allow someone to show up out of the blue and list $4,500 worth of items. They got lucky on the first listing before Ebay found out.
