I just had a package lost by the post office. Ebay sent me a form and asked me if I would like to refund their money? Why? Would I be held responsible for a loss package? The QR code generated the proper label and it was put on the package. If it was broken, I would have to try to help but I certainly hope Ebay is not holding it. Sellers responsible for what the post office does? Has anybody else had this happen thank you

Yes, you will refund the customer, then you file a claim with the Post Office to recover your $$ for the lost package.

Yes, I've had a package go missing.
I refunded the buyer.
And I filed a claim with USPS. The item was send USPS ground and therefore was insured by USPS. I send USPS the tracking number, and screenshots from the eBay transaction, and was refunded in full. Took about three weeks from start to finish.
NOTE: media mail, if not insured, will not / not be covered by USPS in case USPS loses the package.

Yes, to all of the previous posts.
Sellers are responsible for delivering the product to the address provided by the buyer. Buyers are responsible for having a safe location where they item is to be delivered.
The item never did get to them which makes the buyer responsible. (missing mail claim through USPS)
If the item was delivered (tracking shows) and was stolen from the mailbox/porch, the buyer would be responsible for the loss.
Was this an expensive item? (item lost in shipping)

Put the shoe on the other foot. If you purchased something from a store or venue online and did not receive it, would you just say, "Oh, well, it's lost. My loss." Of course not. You would contact the seller and either demand the item or your money back, wouldn't you?
Same thing with eBay. Your buyer bought your item and if it is lost, you have to make the buyer whole, and since you are the shipper and are responsible for the item until the buyer receives it, you have to pursue being reimbursed by USPS for the loss.
