Well here’s a new one for me. I sold an item and customer contacted me the day after I shipped it. He opened a inquiry and said it appeared it had been delivered. I checked the fedex web as you can get thru on the phone right now and it did appear it had been delivered in my hometown, weird I know.
Anyway I refunded his money then I get an email today and he received the item today. Wants to know how he pays me now and since I’ve never had this problem before how do I answer. Thanks for any help!

I don't have enough information, normally there exists a process that, so long it is followed...
What do you mean by "He opened a inquiry?"
Was there an actual "Item Not Received" case open?
Unfortunately as things stand I think you refunded too soon.
Once you issue a refund the money is usually good as gone.
If the buyer used paypal you may have some luck...

Easiest fastest way is just send him a request money thing through PayPal.
You have the email addy from where he bought it to start with.

I agree that a Paypal invoice is the way to go.
customer contacted me the day after I shipped it. He opened a inquiry and said it appeared it had been delivered.
What sort of enquiry and why?
checked the fedex web as you can get thru on the phone right now
What did the tracking say-- not a call centre rep on the phone?
Tracking is for the benefit of the seller. If the tracking doesn't show delivery, only then should there be a refund.
When the tracking showed delivery (even to the wrong address) you are free and clear.

Go to paypal to his original payment and reinvoice him. Verify if he still has same paypal email address.

Not so weird.
The label was accidentally scanned "Delivered" instead of "Picked Up". It happens sometimes … the delivery/pick up person used the wrong scanner setting.
Send him a PayPal invoice.

At the time there was another item out there, with the same tracking number, that had been delivered thru Fedex and that’s why he thought as I did that it was his.
Going to chalk this one up but a valuable lesson learned...don’t jump the gun.
Thanks for your reply.
