Listing Title & Getting Seen

I was hoping someone could kindly give me some advice on how to get your items seen.  I have tried everything to get more views.    I read something about the first 4 words in your listing title are the most important. Is that true? Then I thought I had it all figured out - Auctions - that's the ticket!  Nope still no Views - so I promoted a few of my listings to see if that would raise the views & nothing - I have tried using "Costume Jewelry" & I always start with Vintage Signed -I'm thinking Lots that's probably the best chance of being seen? I would really appreciate any helpful positive input, advice or secret!  Thank you, Shelley,

I'm a buyer. I need you to spell the name brand right and put it in the title. That's all.

You have sold 41 items since May, sales are way more important than views

The first word in many of your listings is "Vintage."

Get rid of it -- the term "vintage" is one of the most overused, overrated and misunderstood terms used by eBay sellers in their descriptions.

Yes, the first 4 words are the most imporant.  Vintage signed is not doing you any favors.  Think of how a buyer searches.  How many people do you think search for vintage signed?  The first 4 words should be the most likely KW's a buyer searches for.

Hint:  Typically brand, item, then maybe color, metal or size.   So, Monet Trifair Silvertone Earrings & then the rest.   Your photos are excellent!  Almost no one does auctions anymore.  No one wants to wait 7 days for an auction.

ETA:  No need to get rid of the KW vintage, but def it should not be first.

I also forgot to mention, your photos are EXCEPTIONAL!  Nice job!

Move away from auctions.  If people want some thing, they want it now.  And as long as buyer likes what he/she sees on your listings, they will buy.

I agree with other posters. Vintage is not as important as what you are actually selling. You have lots of competition in your category but if your prices are reasonable and someone want a green emerald brooch, they will most likely only type green emerald brooch. Using those three words first will get your item closer to the top on best match. Also consider most anyone who searches changes the best match default to price or newly listed.

Since you did ask for advice:

I looked at the Faux Turquoise & Silver Tone Necklace & Earrings Vintage Jewelry Set Pierced Ear

As others have mentioned get rid of the word vintage. In this case substitute the word turtle. While it is true that someone can see in the picture that they are turtles, they won’t see the picture if they don’t find the listing. Which I suggest they will not do if they use the search term turtle. Additionally you do not have any sizes listed.

More importantly I looked at the Tennis Bracelet Gold Tone Sparkly Faux Stones Unsigned Beautiful Shiny Plating

In the specs you have it listed as 8” but in the written description below you say 7”. Not a big deal but consistency matters.

BUT you then go on to say:

  •   Glossy, Shiny, Sparkly Diamond & Gold Tennis Bracelet
  •   Cubic Zirconia & Gold Plating Over Steel

Those 2 statements are at odds with each other.

Just a couple of suggestions.

Really appreciate your input- I wish you could look at everyone!  I fixed those 2 you mentioned, I still need to add measurements.  As far as the word turtle you meant take it out of the listing title not the description, right?  Any suggestions on pricing?  When I list an item, I always search the web for it, and I won't list it until I find it somewhere so I can get an idea on the price. But who says they priced it correctly? Then if nothing sells for a few days I think I am asking too much so I lower my prices then I feels like I am giving it away.  It's amazing the price difference on the same item when you get to looking, I just don't understand how the same item can be listed for 40$ and 75$?   Anyway, Thank you so much

Actually the point was that word turtle was NOT in the listing title and it should have been. You can fit it in by removing the word "vintage". And leave it in the description as well.

As for pricing, I do not sell jewelry so I am not in a position to comment on pricing.

Rhinestone Silver Bird Brooch Love Birds Silver Tone Large Vintage Signed Lapel

wow... that is a lot. No need for saying birds 2x, silver 2x or signed because your description doesn't even say who signed. Also saying silver and silver tone is misleading buyers. 2 1/8" is not necessarily large.

I agree & disagree with this.   It's true that you don't need AND don't WANT to have keywords duplicated in the title, it actually hurts you with SEO, so yes do remove the dup words.

As an occasional jewelry buyer, I think signed is an ok KW & I def think you should use ALL the title space available, so I would remove the dup words, but add enough other KW's to use your 80 characters.

I'd re-write your titles to put Vintage near the end of your word stream and the type of jewelry (parure, brooch, necklace) first or second.

Then brand or material (Givenchy, Bakelite).

That's for the phone shoppers who don't see the entire Title and have only a tiny picture.

All the other words will help in Search no matter what their placement.

If there is a common mis-spelling add that to the title, again near the end (Dior /Doir).

You are selling impulse items, not investment. Use Fixed Price and probably Immediate Payment Required.  Get them while they are hot.
