Listing Clarification

I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this, but I just want to verify:

I have two of the same item. I CAN list one as a BIN and list the other at auction with both running at the same time, right?

You should change the wording in the title slightly so Ebay doesn't kick it back. Actually every time you relist something you should make a slight change in the title to make it a newlistig instead of a relist as a relist results in very low placement in viws to buyer. I'ts easy and results in more sales.

No.  Well, not exactly.

If the titles are identical, eBay will warn you when you try to submit the 2nd listing that the second listing will not be displayed until the first listing gets a bid..

But it CAN be done as long as the titles are not the same, correct?  That wouldn't be a problem.

I actually have a few of an item which is something that rarely happens for me!

Yes, if the titles aren't identical, the BOTs won't spot it.

I've had them in both, with the same title and no problems. This is from Tweets Thread " I have questions" message 72, Trint states..."Additionally, while you are allowed to have a fixed price and an auction style listing for the same item". However, nothing said about titles. Hope this helps.

Just change the order of words or in some instances just add a space. Any little change fools the Ebay computer so your listing moves upwardsvfrom the bottom of search.

You shouldn't HAVE any need to change the titles as it's perfectly legit to run both an auction and a FP at the same time as long as the auction doesn't have a BIN

That is only for two AUCTION LISTINGS

One Fixed Price and One Auction at the same time is completly eBay legal (read the Duplicate Listing Policy). The only restriction is that the Auction cannot have BIN.

There is no need to attempt to "fool the 'bots"

So why not just list BIN with multi-qty?

I just want this answer to get re-posted because it is correct, whereas several other posts (including the one accepted as an answer) are misleading or just plain  wrong.

The duplicates policy is about duplicate ITEMS, not about listings that are duplicates of each other.  Changing the titles around doesn't make them different items.  And the correct answer to the original question doesn't involve any bot-fooling shenanigans, either: Yes, it IS OK to have simultaneous auction-format and  fixed-price format listings, as long as the auction doesn't have a Buy It Now option.
