Imagine a dude killing an elderly woman and taking over her home, then naming the garage after her, and her kids are supposed to be just fine with all that because she put up a good fight before she died. You use words like "honor" and "fighting spirit" like you own sole right to what those words mean. You think it took 281 years to ethnically cleanse the land we call America only because the natives put up a good fight? You don't think it had anything to do with the fact that it's an E-NOR-MOUS land mass, the fastest travel was on hooves, and the land was diverse enough for the natives to find places to hide from slaughter, where wagon wheels couldn't traverse?
I think it bears asking: are you an indigenous person yourself? I'm not, so this isn't my fight, but how is it yours? I guess it's all well and good for white people to have these arguments among ourselves, but if you had a recognized member of a tribal nation telling you it's disrespectful to him/her to have U.S. facilities named after their people, would you seriously stand there and tell them they're wrong, like "No really, you're taking it the wrong way! Honest, it's to honor how hard your people fought to not be eradicated like cockroaches! And it's SINCERE honor, not just an appeasing veneer, like we gave to the hicks in the South."
