I have a Bionicle box set that I want to list. The box is damaged in that it has a tear in the cardboard all the way across the front and has been taped up. The top of the box material doesn't feel like it was made of the same stronger cardboard as the bottom . (I received it this way.) Do I list it in the complete sets or for parts section? Unless I completely tear open and destroy the box, I have no way to guarantee that all parts are in the box? Suggestions? Thanks.

How would you know how to price it unless you know what's inside? Surely you can splite the tape at the openings?
I'd never list it without a inventory of the contents.......

I would definately consider this set used and gently open (destroy?) for inventory. This can be mentioned in the listing. Never list an unknown, it's a SNAD waiting to happen. And you'd have to assume it's valid if you don't know what was sent. Good luck~

I knew you guys would help out! Thanks. All great suggestions. I have been listing all day and was completely out of neurons for this one! Will start fresh tomorrow by splitting the box at the sides and seeing what goodies are inside. Anyone want to volunteer to count 410 pieces? And I've got another similarly taped one with 545 pieces. Anyone? Anyone? 🙂

I have this in my hoard and honestly I may never get around to bothering with it...

OP, since Legos are in the top ten commonly scammed items, no matter how you list, the potential for problems (scams) are there. Even if you do a full inventory, with pics, the buyer can claim that there are fakes in it OR that some of the pieces are gone because the box is torn, and it's freebie for the buyer time.
And events have been reported that the for parts condition option is no longer a way to win a snad claim.
I would list it used parts from Bioncle, not as a set and not show the box. Boxes included up the value if the box is also in good condition, since the box is destroyed and only good for identifying the set, it will do nothing but be potential fuel in a snad claim.

The set number is on the box.
There are EXTENSIVE websites dedicated to all things LEGO. Pop the set number into the search and it will give you all sorts of information including down to how many of each piece as extras are included and in which numbered bag they are in.
