I have noticed that "bootleg" Gucci sweatshirts are selling for a lot of money.

I am wondering why it is not allowed to sell knockoff or fake Coach or D&B purses, etc, but it is ok

to sell fake Gucci sweatshirts!

It is not OK to sell fakes of any kind.  Ebay relies on members to report them or bots to find them.

It is not okay to sell anything that is counterfeit.

There are 1 billion items on eBay, and ebay cannot possibly be experts in every single item that is listed here.

They rely on the intellectual property rights owners to report counterfeits, and some are more diligent than others.

Plenty of people break the speed limit every day, but that does not make it okay. to break the speed limit. It just means the police didn't catch them.

A search for sold bootleg Gucci sweatshirt comes up with 25 sold, including one from a top rated seller.

There are also quite a few currently for sale - I don't think they have overlooked this many listings!

Who is the "they" you are referring to?  eBay or Gucci?

Perhaps ebay should be limited on how many  items they are allowed have listed on their site until they can prove that they can handle the traffic, fakes, scammers, etc.  Smiley Surprised

Then, they can ask to have the limit raised.   Smiley Very Happy

Not saying 'NO' doesn't mean 'YES'.

The foolishness of one's actions or words is determined by the number of witnesses.

Perhaps if Brains were described as an APP, many people would use them more often.
