Kitchen knife set

My ad has been removed for trying to sell a kitchen knife set in th UK with block but yet I can verify at least 3 ads currently on ebay (30 October 2021)  that haven't been removed.

I've spent too much time trying to navigate to mail, speak or chat with anyone from ebay because all the help they allegedly provide sends you round in circles.

Can anyone explain why my ad was rejected but similiar ads haven't been removed ?

You are registered in the UK, so you should know about the strict knife laws here.

Most knives are banned on ebay UK.

Don't list them again. otherwise you will be banned too.

You've posted on a US discussion board. You'll get better information/advice from the UK sellers on your home board.

Here's a link for the UK discussion boards:

Several possibilities.  You aren't approved to sell that particular brand of knife block or knives.  One of your competitors may have reported you falsely to throw you off for a few days.

Like others' have pointed out the U.S. selling board isn't the best place to ask questions for the U.K.

Good luck to you!

I would say definitely a brand problem. I have sold Knife Blocks / Kitchenware for atleast 12 years on eBay, but I am a registered distributor with 7 different manuafacturers, and all ot them are mega tough if someone tries to sell their brands without permission.

New or used, doesn't matter.

Your listing was removed because kitchen knives aren't allowed on .co.uk (source). Other listings are still up because they haven't been caught yet.

UK is super strict when it comes to knives. US sellers have listings for kitchen knives pulled all the time because their listings offered shipping to the UK.

@kph2004 ,

ETA: I typed this up before the other replies that pointed this out before I did. Sorry, slow typist here.

I'm going to give a dissenting opinion because I think the problem here is that sharp kitchen knives are prohibited on eBay UK, specifically (and also Ireland). They are allowed in most other countries (including the USA and Australia, where the other responders are located), but not in the UK.

As for the listings for similar items, one of them was listed for sale on ebay USA, in US$, and knives like that are allowed on eBay USA. The other two were listed on eBay UK, and they may just not have been caught yet. Just like traffic policemen, they don't catch all the people who are speeding at once.

Thank you for your reply but if I knew the laws why would I be asking this question ?

Also when I see other sellers in the UK selling knives on ebay it becomes rather ambigous.

But again, thank you for your comment and all the replies have answered my question.

Just be glad the icons were removed and there are only blueish circles at the moment.

Beyond that, a huge part of doing business is to research the rules and sometimes laws regarding what is not allowed on the various platforms in the countries you ship to.  I used to ship worldwide until I purchased a large lot of knives five years ago.  Before I listed any of the early knife lots I looked up the rules in several large countries including the U.K.  It took less than an hour.

You are correct in that it gets confusing when we see other sellers listing in the same categories we want to.
